1.2.3巻と読みましたが、
どの巻も人を惹きつけて止まないドキドキとした興奮を教えてくれます。
最近では、あまり恐怖感でドキドキとは出来る機会はまたとありません。
そんな、 ドキドキとする恐怖感を味わいたいという人
是非、この本を読んで恐怖のドキドキを味わってはいかがでしょうか？

児童書のわりに、なかなかダークで、危険な香りのする場面描写がおおかった気がします。
ゲテモノ類や血、フリークスなど、ショッキングなモチーフもたくさん登場します。
しかし、そのおそろしさを浄化するように主人公・ダレン少年のまっすぐなこころが輝きます。

はらはらしたり、スリルを感じる場面もたくさんありますが、ダレン少年といっしょなら、ページをめくるのも苦になりません。
それくらい、この物語の主人公はすてきで、かわいいです。
皆さん言われているように、本当におもしろいので13巻くらいすぐに読めてしまう！と思います。
ファンタジー嫌い、児童書読まず、の私でも楽しめたこの本。大人から子どもまでたのしめる作品です。

ストーリーは面白く、たぶん読み出したら止まらない。

でも、日本ではこれを親子で読めるファンタジーとして売られ、美しい友情物語だという感想がきてますが、それはやっぱり変。
やはり物語のはじめにあるように、このお話は、ティーンエージ向けのホラーで、主人公は常に自分のやった愚かな行為の結果を責任をとっているにすぎないからです。

話としては、ハリー・ポッターより、"Buffy the Vampire Slayer" とか「妖怪人間ベム」とかに近い。
かなり残酷なシーンもあるので、想像力の強い人、自分や周りに大怪我の経験がある子には、ショックが大きいかもしれません。

こういう話を親や教師に薦められると、子供はどうしても、主人公を美化した感想を持たないといけないような心理的圧力を受けますが、そんな不自由な読み方は、この話にとっても読者にとっても不幸でしょう。

やはり、こういうタイプの本は、隠れて読んだほうがワクワクするし、主人公の言い訳を鵜呑みにせず、「アホかこいつ」ぐらい言えないと、つまんないです。
