歴史にあまり関心の無い子に興味を持たせるには、ビジュアル面で目を引く本が一番です（もちろんビデオやテレビ番組もいいです）。できれば受験知識等からは一度遠ざかって、リフレッシュできる本がいいでしょう。この本は、読みやすくて興味を持ちやすい、知的好奇心を刺激する本であり、上のような場合に適した本だと思います。

そもそも、中学受験生にも使用に耐えうる図鑑はなかなかありません。したがってこの本の持つ意味は重要だと思います。

ただしこの価格は高いです。もう少し雑誌風にして安価にするなどの対処はできないものかなと感じます。

また、上位クラスの子や学習の進んだ６年生にとっては、やや子どもっぽいと感じてしまうかもしれません。

　小学生歴史の調べ学習用に購入しました。ビジュアル重視の図鑑なので誰にでも見やすいと思います。史跡や遺跡も今の写真が多く載せられています。子供達にとって（現代の生活の中で）歴史をどうとらえるか？という点に重きがおかれているように思います。子供にとって歴史が身近なものとして感じられるよう編集されているのではないでしょうか。関連施設の案内なども親切でした。

字を読めるようになった頃から下の子は、上の子にと借りた歴史物の学習漫画を次々読破していました。
小学生になる頃にはびっくりするくらい頭に入っていて、仕上げが『21世紀こども百科　歴史館』でした。
関連づけて理解できるのか、中学レベルのものは日本史のみならず地理や世界史、公民もなんなくクリア。
理系を狙っているので、今まで以上に日本史に深く入り込むことはないと思いますが、今でもときどき
寝転がってページをめくっています。
興味のある子には、ちょっとしたことで伸びていくチャンスがあるのだなと感じた一冊です。

あんなに歴史の漫画を借りていたのに、上の子はたいして興味を持たずに工学系に進んでしまいました！
