普段あまり本を読まない小２の娘が興味を示しました。
大人の私も読んでいて「へぇ〜」ということが多く、なかなかためになります。

写真や図が少ないのがやや気になりますが
興味をもった部分はあとで図鑑で調べればいいことなので、
まずは「調べたいことが載っている」というのがいいと思いました。

21世紀こども百科と迷い、まずそちらを買ったのですが写真や図が中心なため
幼稚園児〜低学年向け。楽しめますがとにかく項目が少なすぎるので
調べるというよりは読み物で載っていることしか知ることができません。図鑑に近いです。

調べる目的ではこちらでした。
だからといって大人向けのように敷居が高くなく、出来る限り易しい言葉でわかりやすく解説があるので子供も理解しやすいようです。

私は入学時に色々な図鑑を買い与えてしまいましたが、まずこれを買って、
それから興味ある分野の図鑑を買い足していけばよかったかな？と思いました。
それだけ色々な分野にわたって載っています。
低学年くらいでしたら本当にこれ1冊でよかったかもしれないですね。

大人でしたら読み物として最初から読んでいくと本当に面白いと思います。
子供向けなのでとても見やすい紙面構成なのもいいです。
もっともっと多くのレビューがあってもよさそうな本なのですが・・。
自分の小学生時代にもこういう事典が欲しかったですね。

　茶の間に転がしておくだけで、家族みんなで楽しめ、テレビに出てきたことをその場で調べられたりします。
　強いて言えば、もうちょっと写真がほしいなぁ。っていうぐらい。1冊にまとめるためには仕方ないのでしょうか。

今、年長さんです。「そろそろ百科事典を」と思い、これを見つけました。
購入して大正解！！「少し難しいかな？」と思いましたけど、
所々にクイズがついていて、それが楽しくて夢中で見ています。
中学生の兄も面白いと一緒になって読んでいます。
又、別冊付録の家庭学習の手引きは音読プリントが付いていて
年長さんは「北原白秋の五十音」を暗唱できるようにと頑張って
います。楽しく物知りになりそうです。
