　生き物図鑑で恐竜ほど毎年毎年新種が発見されるものもないので、新しい恐竜図鑑は必需となる。近年羽毛の生えた恐竜が多数発見され、これまでの恐竜とはイメージが異なってきている事ももちろん紹介されている。本書ではカラフルに復元された生体イラストで、生き生きと描かれている点に着目したい。化石のカラー写真も豊富で、巻末には写真の化石の収蔵博物館が海外も含めて紹介されている点は、将来実物を見に行くときに非常に役立つ。私も子供の頃に見た写真を元にアメリカの恐竜国立公園やユタ大学、スミソニアン自然史博物館そしてニューヨーク自然史博物館巡りをして生で本物の化石を見た時の感動は忘れられない。そのような好奇心をかき立てるに十分な内容となっている。本書も子供だけではなく大人も満足できる化石や発掘現場の写真や生体及び生態のイラストがふんだんに使われている。今買うなら本書がお勧め。

４才の女の子に、昔はこんな動物がいたということを知ってもらおうと思い購入しました。

ただ、ちょっと早かったみたいです。なので私が楽しんでいるという状況です。

しかし、ビックリしました。私が子供の頃の恐竜と言えば、ティラノサウルス、トリケラトプス、ステゴサウルス、ステゴサウルス等１０種類くらいしか紹介されていなかったような気がします（不勉強なだけ？？しかも…ザウルスといっていたような）が、物凄い種類の恐竜がいたんですね。
しかも色とりどりになっているし…。

それら多種類の恐竜達を竜盤目（獣脚類・竜脚系類）・鳥盤目（装盾類・鳥脚類・周飾頭類）・恐竜以外（翼竜・首長竜・魚竜）等と分けて載せているので見やい構成になっています。

確かに昨今恐竜が今の鳥類の祖先であり、恐竜に羽毛があったのでは？とか最新の研究があるようですし、そういったものがまとまっている本を見る機会がないと、私のように昔の知識だけで２０年くらい平気で過ごしてしまうことになってしまいますよね。

子どもとはもう少し大きくなったら一緒に見ることにして、それまでは私が、この本を使って勉強しておこうと思います。

子供が2歳を超え恐竜に興味を持ち始めた為本書を購入しました。子供が本書を見たとたん「恐竜、恐竜！！」と喜び無我夢中で見ていました。私もつられて見てみたところ子供のころ見た恐竜の種類を遥かに超えた種類が本書にはあり、今は子供の目を盗んで見ています。本書は説明も分かりやすく大人が見ても子供の頃の恐竜に対する感動を思い起こさせる一冊になっており絶対にお勧めの一冊です。
