酒見賢一による同名短編小説の劇画化である。とはいえ、小説どおりに進むのは最初だけで、主人公・革離の梁城を守る戦いは文庫３巻まで。しかも原作とはまったく別の形で終わってしまう。あとは「原作」と関係なく、革離たち（仲間ができる）と墨家、および秦などとの戦いが、非情な筆致で描かれる。醜悪なリアルさをもつ絵柄には最初違和感をもったが、戦争とはそういうものであり、次第に「これしかない」と思えるようになる。当然、残酷な描写が多いが、これに嫌悪感を持ち続けながら読んだ方が、かえって本作品の真意は伝わりやすいだろう。

作品自体の質は非常に高い。しかし、極限まで凝縮された原作に感動して本書を手に取った私としては、原作を離れて以後の、長い後半が物足りなかった。たしかに物語としては面白いのだけれど、原作の密度に及ばない。結末のあり方にも大きい疑問が残る。原作より先に本作品に接し、感動した人には、是非原作を読んでほしい。

某マンガ紹介本に
『素敵な暴走を続けるマンガ』
と書かれていて前々から気になっていた作品。

「青空しょって」の絵柄が色濃く残っており
主人公の革離がゴッド（オヤジ）に見えて仕方が無い(笑)

城壁の修理での見開きといい、死体ナメshotといい
構図、画面構成が素晴しい。
暴走は原作の部分を越えてからのようだ。

墨家の思想をテーマにした酒見賢一さんの小説『墨攻』を、コミック化した作品です。
1〜3巻は、原作をベースにした久保田千太郎さんの脚本により、物語が進みます。
4巻以降は、森秀樹さんが独自の解釈で墨家消滅の謎を描いていきます。
巻を追うごとに原作からはかけ離れていきますが、「酒見墨攻」とは違う面白さがあり、こちらはこちらで十分楽しめる作品です。

1巻では、森さんのリアルなタッチの絵柄に慣れましょう(笑)
ほぼ原作通りに話が進みますので、安心して読めます。
時代背景や墨子の教えについても、この巻で大体掴めます。
果たして梁城の民は、趙の大軍を防ぐことができるのでしょうか！？
墨者・革離の戦いは、まだ始まったばかりです。
