この漫画は何の予備知識も持たないまま読み始めるというのがベストだと思います
子供がロボットに乗って正体不名の敵から地球を守る。
なんて聞いただけで「はいはいありがち」と言いたくなりますよね。
初めは戦いを通して子供たちが成長していくよーみたいな感じに見えますが
1巻の終盤辺りにとんでもない展開が用意されています。
「あれ？何かがおかしい」強烈な違和感とともに真の物語が始まります
やはり作者が作者なだけに普通の漫画ではありません(笑)

自然学校に集った性格も歳も違う15人の少年少女が
ふとしたことからココペリと名乗る謎の青年に
「巨大ロボットに乗って敵と戦うゲームをしないか？」と誘われます。

少年少女は好奇心から彼の言う「ゲーム」に参加しますが、
そのゲームは単なる遊びではないことを後に知ることになるのです。

選ばれた子供達がロボットのパイロットになり敵と戦う作品は
昨今の漫画・アニメ作品において数多くありますが、
「ぼくらの」においてはその「戦い」に物凄い重みがあります。

・少年少女が「ジアース」と名付けたロボットの動力源は？
・戦う敵ロボットの正体とは？
・彼らが行う戦闘の勝敗が何を意味するのか？

巻数が進むにつれ、それらについての解答が成されるとき、
これは唯の少年少女のロボットバトル漫画ではない事を痛感しました。

それに平行し、15人の少年少女の生い立ちやコンプレックス等が
深く描かれており、彼・彼女らの心境を知ったときの衝撃も大きかったです。

少年少女の運命は、ジアースの戦闘の行方は……続きが気になる一冊です。

少年達が巨大ロボットにのって地球を救うという非常に少年漫画的な設定ですが、
この作者が描けば、少年達が戦いを通じて成長していく、
というありがちな展開にはなるはずもなく、
勝っても負けても彼らには等しく｢死｣が待っています。
　死を目前として少年達は何を思いどんな行動するのか、そんな人間ドラマがこの作品の魅力です。
　あえてステレオタイプな設定にして読者の予想を裏切るアンチ少年漫画な展開。
普通の漫画には飽きた人にお勧めです。
