八木様と弥一の過去を懐かしむ会話には究極のもどかしさを感じてしまった。しかし、その『もどかしさ』がこの漫画の一番の見どころなのだと思う。弥一が誠之進だとばれ、政が強いことが八木様にばれてしまった。秋津家の問題もあるし、今後が更に楽しみな巻。

前巻で、生真面目な政は「イチどのに、その日その日を楽しむ生き方を教わった」ように、
長屋の気風のいい女房たちにも、かわいがられて
なんだかんだと、江戸の生活にも慣れてきたようだ。
また、政は、町方の八木に、道場の職を紹介される。
八木は政を手中に置き、そのことを政も、自分からイチを探る策かもしれぬとわかりつつ
実家の借金返済のため、また、流されやすき性格だからか、道場で子供らに教える。
江戸にもなれて人にもなぜか好かれる政、
生真面目ではあるが、どこか底がからっと明るいからではないだろうか。

一方、遊び人だったはずのイチは生気の無い顔つきになっていく・・・
イチのほうが本当はその日暮が出来ない性格で、重たい過去をにおわす。
八木がイチを気にしている訳もだいぶ見えてきた。

また、政の藩の話も大分加わってくる。
政の実家では、政の弟が苦しいお家事情の家督を継いでいるが、
最近、政の送ってくるまとまった額の金や、政が高価なカンザシを妹に買ってやったことなどから、居酒屋の用心棒ごときでこれほど稼げるのか…と、
何を考えているか分からない顔で、カンザシを見つめる。

これから出る６巻にも、ますます話の広がりがもてそうだ。
