久しぶりに出た4巻は、今までの3巻とは違う印象を受けました。特定の漫画を語ることを辞めて、むしろ漫画というものが密接にリンクしている幼年時代の思い出や、子供と大人のつながりなどを語ることによって、単なる漫画の情報を提供することに終始せず、漫画をきっかけにした人間の活動、想いなどの周辺を語ることが出来ていると想います。つまり、この4巻を読んで、そこで紹介されている漫画を読みたくなるというよりも､自分にとって大切な漫画をもう一度読みたくなるというような､そんな違いです。特に､最後の話は、漫画が出てくる必然性はあまりないのですが、それでも、人間に対する優しさや、昔を懐古するという点において、自然に漫画の存在が説得力をもって現れてきます。とても暖かい話です。そして、ふと思います。いま量産されている漫画のうち、どれだけのものが読み継がれていくものかと。

週刊誌ではなく、単行本になってから読む！という「まとめて読みたい」漫画バカなので週刊誌で毎週読む派ほどではない。そのヲタになり切れない漫画バカの言うことなのであまり参考にはならないかもしれないが、単行本派の漫画バカはコレを読め！である。

なにしろ戦前の漫画から戦後の傑作、近年の名作に至るまで漫画の歴史を縦横無尽に旅することができる。歴史が縦軸、現代の金魚屋の物語が横軸。楽しいったらありゃしない。男どもは妙にハンサムだが明らかに欠落していて、女どもは圧倒的に可愛いくて欠落した男どもを軽くイナシテみせる。その姿がタマラナクいいのだ。いくつかのエピソードでは思わず泣けるほどだ（「火星探検」のメッセージ・エピソードは傑作！）。この第４巻では、遂に「不細工でデブな」キャラが登場。

そうでなくても古い漫画本が増殖しまくる僕の部屋。「金魚屋」を読み始めてからますます・・・。それでも「まんだらけ」には行かないのが中途半端ヲタの粋ってもんだ！でも、「ビリー・パック」の漫画少年版全４巻は持ってるぞ！どうだ！？（あ、お嬢さん、興味ないすか？）

　｢漫画｣というだけで軽く見られて、中身がないなんて思われることがあって。
　｢そうじゃない｣と感じておじさん、おばさんになっても色々な漫画を読み続けているあなたに……｢まんがばか｣のあなたにこの｢金魚屋古書店｣をお薦めします。

　4巻にもなると登場人物もそろそろ落ち着いてきて、ともすればマンネリ化してきそうなものですが、意外とそうならないものです。特定の漫画に密着した話から、漫画と漫画から得られた感情や生活、思想といった実にくすぐられて気持ちの良い場所でゆったりとしたストーリーが紡がれています。
　｢月刊イッキ｣を買うつもりはないので、単行本がでるのが常に楽しみなシリーズです。
