武論尊と池上遼一のゴールデンコンビが描く三国志ということで、読む前から期待はしていたのですが、想像以上に面白かったです。今までの三国志とは違う意表をつくストーリー展開と、魅力的な登場人物の熱いセリフに引き込まれました。三国志をよく知っている人も、知らない人も、両方が楽しめる作品だと思います。２巻が待ち遠しくてなりません。

大望を抱く１人の倭人が中華（黄巾の乱勃発中）に渡り、いまだ無名の劉備一行と出会い、ひと悶着の結果「劉備」に成り代わる、というところから始まる話。
原作武論尊氏ということで、ケンシロウ型の新生劉備とラオウ型の曹操との魂の競り合い、人間愛至上主義的な流儀を崩さないままに権謀術数の乱世に臨む、「倭（ニホン）の流儀」をもって大陸の流儀に挑む、といった構図が根底におかれている感じを受けます。三国志演義のヒーローにして義に厚い劉備像を、外面的に継承させつつ内側に血を通わせたもの、でもあるのかもしれない。

その劉備をはじめ、キャラクターはみな「個性」として成立しているな（史実における人間像・本質も意識されている感じだが、基本はオリジナル）、と匂わせるような有機性がある。ちゃんと食える味を持ち、泥っとした画風との相性も良く、総じて魅力的に設計されているが、
キャラクター同士が織り成す世界像としては、いまいち締りを感じない。
「英雄達の天下盗りレース」を前面に押し出す勢い余ってか、皆があっさりと共通の意識的土壌で会話をしてしまいがちだったり（深い次元での意識の書き分けが崩れ、結果として作品内における「個人」が失われ、「作者自体」が浮かび上がってしまう）、話自体も人間関係的な緊張感に欠ける展開が多く、全体的に、一つの独立した絵巻を眺めているというよりは、作者の脳内会話を見せられているな、と感じてしまうような、作品的な軽さがある。
それも影響して、表面上エキセントリックに進んでも、なんだか一本調子な印象を受けてしまうことがしばしば。ただ作品全体に通ずる人間観のレベルは相応に高く、要所では読ませてくる。第二巻の、兵卒に「覚悟」を説くくだりなどは特に秀逸で、個人的にはここから引き込まれた。

根本的に注意しておくべき点として、この漫画は、既定の歴史の流れを軸とし、「その軸に向けて」の自由な表現・解釈を連ねて物語を構成する（蒼天航路はぎりぎりこっち）、というものではなく、
歴史の舞台を設定に借りるけど、後の話は自分で創らせてもらいます、というスタイルの作品であること。本質的な意味で、歴史物とはまた別物といえるので、そっちの旨みを期待したり、割り切りが甘いまま読むと、過剰に軽く感じてしまうかもしれない。
あくまで「三国志版北斗の拳」的な漫画であり、歴史系の二次創作物が好きな人におすすめ。面白いところは面白いです。（第１０巻読了時点での評価。第１巻自体の評価としては☆４）

やれ赤壁の奇跡だの臥龍、諸葛孔明だの・・・
巷に溢れるマンネリ三国志にゲンナリしていた私を目覚めさせてくれたのが、
蒼天航路でした。基本は忠実ながらも独自の世界観、解釈を加え、
全く新しい三国志の世界を垣間見る事ができる作品です。

この覇-LORDもいきなり倭人(日本人)が三国志の世界に介入してくる、
衝撃的なスタートから始まります。在り来たりの三国志に飽き飽きしてた方！是非お読み下さい。重ねて蒼天航路もオススメします。
