主役はやはりゲジヒトであったのだろうと私は感じました。
アトムは最後にPLUTOと対峙したものの狂言回しの役だったのだろうと。
ロビタを殺されたゲジヒトは憤怒のあまりヒトを殺すという
行動に出た訳ですが、最後にアリのクラスター砲を受けて
死ぬ間際に憎悪を克服したのです。
”憎しみからは何も生まれない”・・と。

この当たり前で普遍的な悟りに、人類は歴史上辿りつけたのでしょうか？
答えは否です。確かに戦争は憎悪だけでなく経済的・宗教的な理由からも
起こり得るのですが、憎しみの連環からヒトが解放される日は未だ訪れません。
よってこの地球上から紛争が絶えることはありません。

ゲジヒトが、そしてゲジヒトの記憶によりアトムが、
さらにアトムに触発されたプルートゥが
憎悪を克服したこの最終巻は、未だに人類が克服できていないことに
対するアイロニーのようにも思えます。
また、他の動物には見られない（一部の例外を除いて）、
ヒトだけが持ち得る非利己的な行動、すなわち自己犠牲を
ロボットが実践したというのも象徴的なシーンでした。

最後のエピソード（ブラウ1589）は私はとても重要だったと思います。
ブラウは槍を抜くと自らの機能が停止する事を知っていながら
あの行動に出た訳ですから。

全8巻読み終えて、浦沢先生他スタッフの方々には
良い作品を創ってくださってありがとうございましたと
言いたいです。
サハドも含めた７体のロボットが
オーロラの空に浮かぶシーンでは堪え切れず涙が頬をつたいました。
本当に素晴らしい作品でした。

物語前半の読み手に何かを感じさせる作り方でなく、登場人物のセリフとして言葉で説明しはじめた途端に物語が浅くなりました。ラストのアトム達の会話が決定的でしたね。物語全体としても、力が入りすぎた結果か、ストーリーをこねくり回しすぎて頭でっかちになったという印象です。それでも全く面白くなかったという訳ではないので☆2つ。

青騎士編（の特に後半）はとても肯定できるものではないのですが、あれを下敷きにするのはどうなんでしょう。
プルートゥのまま進めて欲しかった。せめてアトラスで。

メトロポリスの頃から「ロボットと人間の対立」という未来的な考え方があります。
ここにおいて人間とロボットは対等になる。
それはアトムにおいても同様で、ロボットの”暴走”などの、従属者と見る考え方はアトムにおいては未来らしくもなく、
それゆえに青騎士編の青騎士死亡後の後編は人気も出なかった。それを基盤に置くのは今ひとつ納得できません。
