多くのファンにとって、この展開は予想の範囲内なのではなかろうか。しかし、松本大洋の描くマンガの魅力はストーリーだけではない。

多くのフォロワーを生んだ強烈な個性の絵柄は勿論、その多くのフォロワーが真似することができないでいる、行間（絵間？コマ間？）を読ませようとする微妙な表現にも大きな魅力があるのではなかろうか。極私的な意見かもしれないが、その行間こそが松本大洋の個性のような気がする。そして、過去のどの作品よりも行間の魅力が詰まっているのが、この竹光侍だ。

例えば、殺陣のような動きの激しい場面であっても、ストップモーションのような動きの止まった絵で描かれているのだが、何故か不思議と動きが感じられる。さらに、コマの中からは妖気が滲み出てくるかのようだ。素晴らしいとしか言いようがない。

月並みな言い方になるが、第三巻が今からとても楽しみだ。

竹光侍（２）は、流れがかなり落ち着いてきて、いい感じ。江戸時代の悠久の時間の流れが見て取れ、きっとこんな感じでみんな生きていたのだろうと思える。「人情」「生活」「人生」がうまく配置されている。これには小津の映画のような、人間があるべき余裕のある美しい所作を感じる。あるいは、逆に事件が起こったときのテンポのよさと緊張感が、武道でいう｢間合い」といったところか。ある程度予測できる各回の顛末だが、それでもミエミエの安っぽさがなく、つねに｢人間｣に寄り添った好感が持てる結末になっている。ただ、今後の展開に、ありきたり性とサプライズ性の両方が見え隠れしている。これをぜひうまく処理して欲しい。

話の内容は時代劇としての王道を丁寧に突き進んで面白い。
そこへ独特の絵柄とコマの「間」の妙が加わり、静かだが不思議な迫力をもって迫ってくる。
この二巻の話の前半は辻斬り始末記であるが、この時見せる主人公の人ならざる物のごとき迫力は圧巻である。
一方で人情話においても実にしんみりとした味わいを見せ、日常を描いたほのぼのとした話には何とも言えない暖かみがある。そしてそういった話を挟みながら、話は主人公を狙う刺客へと急速に展開していく。
実に多方面にわたって深い魅力を備えた、良い作品。
ついでながら、辻斬り始末記の様子を報じた瓦版の挿絵や変体仮名、文体などもいかにも江戸風に作られていて、細部に至るまで非常に丁寧に作っている事を感じさせた。
