STAYシリーズですが
メインは中学生愛と賞,その家族のストーリー。
よーぴんと先生夫婦は狂言回しのような役割。
よーぴんのキャラがもっと生かされた展開であれば
☆五つにしたかったです。

夕食の支度時や、中学校の休み時間の
余計な説明がない生き生きした会話がテンポがよく、
自然に話の中へ入ってゆけます。
静かな夜や人気のない昼間の風景など、
田舎の雰囲気を映画のように伝える作者の実力はさすが。
女子中学生が見よう見真似でチャレンジした化粧の大失敗,
牛乳を飲む女性の艶っぽさなど、
ほろ苦い青春の描き方もうまい。
最後のセリフなしの運動会のシーンはじーんとさせられます。
複雑な家庭に育った賞やよーぴんが,
｢新しい家庭を築く」という希望を持って生きようとしている姿が
さらっと描かれていてなんとも爽やか。

STAYシリーズじゃなかったら
もっと好きだった作品です。

都会っ子のみなさん、ここに出てくる風景はとても本物です。
夜の暗闇すぎる暗闇とか緑の大きさとか。
一人で通学路で口ずさむところをみているとホンワカしてきます。

どのマンガ家さんにもポイントになってよく使われる表情というものがあると思うんですが、
西 炯子さんのそれは、ぽや〜と見つめる表情だと思います。
そのときの瞳が無垢な動物のような感じなのに、
そこにはいつも切ない関係性が漂っていてたまらないのです。
それが田舎の窓を開け放した縁側の内と外で繰り広げられていくのです。

幼なじみの愛と賞は、ダム建設の為沈む予定の村に住んでいる。家族同然だった二人が、新しく赴任してきた教師とその妻によって変化し始める…。
新婚の松木先生と、その妻洋子さんの仲睦まじさに照れ、愛と賞のもどかしい恋にドキドキ。ですが、二人の親達に問題が発生しており、それは過去の恋に関係があるよう。
田舎で繰り広げられる人間模様を是非読んでみて下さい。
