購入者の客層を見ると、男の子の大きなお友達がたくさん買っていっているらしい。「この本を買った人は…」というところや、この本を注文したことを理由に「おすすめ商品」に出てくる作品などを見ていると、非常に複雑な気分だ。

学年誌であからさまな性教育なんて、と思うかもしれないが、実は『小学五年生』誌では、性教育漫画を30年以上前から毎年掲載している（少なくとも15年前にはあった）。たまたま2004年度から、男女を問わず年期の入った固定客をもつやぶうち優がその担当になったにすぎない。

だから、出てくるネタは例年通りの定番ものが主体である。女子で言えば初経・おりもの・初ブラ、男子で言えば夢精といったあたりだ。

しかし、本作が前任者までの作品と違うのは、そこにやぶうち独自の物語を上乗せしたところにある。主人公・つぼみの恋の行方は？　謎の美少女・沙耶の正体は？　こちらは、いつものやぶうちワールド全開で、「人間の暖かさ」が全編を貫くテーマになっている。

読者には、性的なものを期待しててではなく、やぶうち優の物語を期待して買ってほしい。

中学生がこんな本持っていいのか？とか思いつつ友人から拝借した一冊。
物語の構成もいいし、某シーンでは恥ずかしながらどきどき。

保健の勉強とかにも使えそう。
子供にも人気があるわけですし＞やぶうち先生

友情だとか忘れちゃいけない思春期の場面も散りばめられていて良い作品でした。

ないしょのつぼみは、娘に買った本ですが、大人の鑑賞にも薦められる、良書だと思います。
コドモがオトナに成長していくことへの、主人公たちの戸惑いと喜び。
性の目覚めへの、悩み。
そして、ひとを好きになることの大切さを、子供たちにそっと教えてくれる。
全ては生命の、神秘のなかにあると。
少女漫画という制約の中で、これだけのものを描き出せる、やぶうち優氏の技量の確かさを感じさせます。
子供を持つ、オトナが読むと実感するのでは…。
