あのハードボイルドロマンの傑作、『BANANA FISH』の吉田秋生先生の作品。
この『YASHA』は繊細な作画、緻密に練られたストーリー、
そして魅力の有り余る登場人物達にきっとあなたは引き込まれる！
このYASHAにもBANANA FISH同様に吉田秋生的天才論(?)が展開される。
ストーリー的には、もしかしたら王道まっしぐらなのかもしれない。でも、読んでしまう。この魅力をあなたも味わって！

夢見る頃を過ぎても、カリフォルニア物語、吉祥天女、
BANANA FISH、ラヴァーズ・キス、吉田秋生は読み尽くした、
言いたい事はBANANA FISHで主人公にやらせ尽くしたと思っていた。
それでも読まずにはいられなかったので買ってしまった。

相変わらず見事なプロットでスーイスイ読ませる力がある。
だが、
パワーはそのまま、設定場所が変わっただけで似たような主人公。
どんなに違う行動を取っていても前作の主人公が目の前にチラチラしてしまう。
キャラクターの性格づけに限界を感じてしまった。

キャラクター魅力だけで読ませる作家ではないのだし、
今度こそ世界設定を変えて似た主人公が活躍する長編ものは読まないようにしよう。

しかし、
本編が初の吉田秋生ならお勧めしないわけにはいかない・・。
レベルの高い名作です。

「BANANA FISH」の亜種である。とくに第８巻でシン・スウ・リンが登場してからは、作品にアッシュの影が見え隠れして、いわく言い難い雰囲気を呈してくる。私には、大詰めの無理な設定も、一応ハッピー・エンドにみえる結末も、どちらもあまり評価できないけれど、この奇妙な気分をけっこう楽しんだ。もちろん作者の技量は文句ない水準で、清潔な画面、映画のような美しい構図、圧倒的迫力の構成、ときどき挿入される高水準のギャグは、容易に到達できない境地である。静と凛との共闘など、作者としても「やりたいこと」をし尽くした作品なのではないかと思う。
しかし、それでもやはり、本作品は「BANANA FISH」に及ばない。作者はすでに、ものすごい作品を描いてしまった。これだけの傑作にして、なお及ばない前作があるというのは、作者にとって幸福なのか、それとも不幸なことなのだろうか。
