本書は小学館の小学４年生２月号から小学５年生２月号まで全１３話連載された漫画の単行本です。
「２巻」と銘打っていますが共通しているのは、
主人公が小学４年生の「つぼみ」という名前の女の子という点だけです。
まあ一種のパラレルワールドと思って下さい。
扱う題材は初めてのブラ選びとか、初潮とか、男の子と女の子のほのかな恋心とか、
保健体育の授業で赤ちゃんはどこから生まれてくるのかのビデオを見たりとか、などです。
性教育漫画とこの漫画は呼ばれているようですが、
大の大人が見ると性教育のサワリのそのまたサワリといった程度です。
今回の「つぼみ」には赤ちゃんの時に死に別れた「縁」という名の双子の兄がいて、
地球人の種族保存本能を調査にきた宇宙人が「生きていたならこんな感じの年恰好の『縁』」として登場し、
周りの人の記憶を操作して「つぼみ」と同居します。
ある意味残酷な事をする宇宙人だなあと思いました。
『縁』が地球を去る時、素敵なサプライズがあるのが救いです。
性教育漫画ではなく、やぶうち優先生の漫画のひとつとして読んで欲しい１冊です。

私が思うのは、
「水色時代」からやぶうち作品の根っ子に流れる、共通するものとして、
「男と女の違い」があると思う。
それを端的に表現すれば、「性」なんだろうけど、
なぜ異性は惹かれあうのか？とか、
そういった「曖昧な」空気感の表現はこの作品で一つの完成をみたのではないでしょうか。

「性」を意識しだす年齢のお子さんのいる家庭に是非1冊。

最近の可愛い系の絵柄は、とにかく下品な方向に
走りすぎて（最近の少女漫画もセックス描写がひどい）
なにか低俗に感じてならなかったけれども、

ちゃんとした性教育を女性作家の視点として
きれいに表現できる人は、ちゃんといるのだ。

可愛くてＨなら売れるだろうと、馬鹿の１つ覚え
みたいなことばっかりの最近の日本漫画・アニメ文化は
見直すときではないだろうか。
