まず、ありきたりな格闘漫画ではありません。でも、現実にありそうな話ではありません。この本は八極拳を学ぶ途上での、真っ正直に生きる主人公”拳児”の成長の物語です。そして、この本を読むあなたにとっては、必要な現実に存在する試練を乗り越えるために必要な”前向きな考え方”を知る上での参考書になりえます。 最終話の「大いなる愛」では、実際に貴方が大変な困難に直面した際に考えるであろう、貴方自身の存在意義について考えさせてくれます。 もっとも、これらの説教くさい面を”それっぽくするためのアクセント”と読み流してもこの本は楽しく読めます。 ただ、この本をいつでも手に取れる本棚に置いておき、何年も繰り返し読むと、その説教も身にしみることでしょう。拳法漫画が、拳法を学ぶ意義と人の道の関連について、始めて真正面から語った歴史的名著。

幾多の困難にぶつかりながらもひたむきな努力で克服し、目標に向かってまっすぐに進んでいく、
そんな気持ちの良い少年から青年への成長劇です。
この本を読んでいると、何かに挫折しそうになったときでも、勇気を与えてくれる作品です。
