アニメが始まったころから、どう贔屓目にみても「間延ばし」感が否めない話も多々ありましたが、アニメも終了し、最近になってようやく終わりに近づきつつあると思えるようになりました。
桔梗が琥珀のかけらの中に残した光はどう影響するのか、琥珀自身の命はどうなるのか、弥勒の傷を治すことはできるのか、各キャラクターの恋愛はどうなるのか、そして、宿敵奈落との最終決戦は.....！？
これらの複線や疑問が、ようやく収束しつつあり非常に面白い展開になってきています。

七人隊を倒したあたりから数年間も読んでいなかった犬夜叉だが、久しぶりにと思いこの巻を読んでみると結構面白かった。
かつてはマンネリと感じていたこともあったし、正直、自分の精神年齢に合っていないのではと読むのを控えていた。
しかし、もう一度読み直してみるとキャラクターの成長をゆっくりではあるが巧みに描いている（個々のキャラクターに焦点を当てる技法もうまい）。
これまで読んできた漫画の中にはクライマックスに近づくにつれ、説明が多くなり、何か急いで終わらせようとしているような違和感を感じることが少なくなかった。
そのような足早な作品とは対照的に、高橋留美子氏の描く漫画はクライマックスに近づくにつれて、伏線をうまくつなぎ合せる手法が実に見事である。
犬夜叉を読み直してみて、これまで読んでいなかった空白の巻を読んでみたいと感じさせるほど犬夜叉はまだまだ魅力を持った漫画であると思う。

５０巻〜今作は、読者を惹きつける展開が多く
ストーリーのテンポも、話の内容も充実してるし、
新しい波のようなものが生まれてる感じがした。
なんだかんだで、現サンデー連載漫画の中では
一番おもしろいし（主観）、なにより安心して読めるのがイイ。

でも、も少し女性キャラを可愛く描いて欲しい…
