弐瓶氏の作品は、本来そのスケールゆえ上下２巻で収まりきるものではないと思います。
イマイチという意見をちらほら見ましたがそれは弐瓶さんの作品としては
物足りないということなのだと思います。展開も早くわかりやすいですし。

自分はこれを上下巻の弐瓶流絵本だと思って読むといいなあと思えました。
それでも十二分に弐瓶テイストを味わえて満足です。

本作の最大の特徴であり見所は、ハイスピードで行われる格闘のバトルシーンでしょう。
ブラム!やバイオメガとは一線を画したバトルシーンですが、「カッチョイイ！」の一言に尽きます。

弐瓶作品特有のダークでストイックな雰囲気や、独特な異形の生物の造形も健在です。

ブラム!で弐瓶ファンになった人にとっては、新しい二瓶勉の魅力が発見できる作品だと思います。
上下巻と短いので、弐瓶勉の作品が未読の人には入門書としてもお勧めです。

今回は変身ヒーロー・モノです。出版社が集英社に変わり、ウルトラジャンプという月刊誌に連載されていたからか、作品内容も今までとガラッと印象が変わっています。が、読者を突き放した作品背景、ストーリーと、作者の圧倒的精密描写は相変わらずです。

従来見られた、なんとなくのITぽさ、最先端テクノロジぽさは今回は全く無し。しかし、背景となる世界は相変わらずの超巨大建築を思わせる風景の一部だったりはします。そこには少しレトロなスタイルの刑事やおじさんがいるかと思えば、おばさんも生活していると言う、BLAME!からBIOMEGAまで親しんだ読者にはお馴染みの風景ですね。
しかしお馴染みの、都市を巻き込んだ大破壊は、今回は無し。今回は主人公自身が破壊兵器ということもあってか、破壊描写も局地的な部分にとどまっています。個人的には残念なところです。そんなこともあってか、今までに比べて小粒な印象を受けてしまいます。
今回の主人公は超高速機動が可能なようで、戦闘シーンもそれに応じた瞬間移動的な機動を捉えた一瞬の描写を繰返すため、ストーリーだけでなく、その立ち回りも訳が分かりません。
従来の主人公に比べて、今回の主人公は意外としゃべる方です。と言いますか、今までが話さな過ぎです。けど、その台詞も読者のストーリーへの理解を助けるには不足です。これは、恐らく主人公自身が従来の経緯から環境への理解を欠いていることの、正直な表現ということなのでしょうか。
下巻第10話で語られる主人公自身の生い立ちと、そこでの会話にストーリーとその背景を理解する上での情報が提供されるのですが、しかしそれでもその内容は断片にしか過ぎないんですね。どこまでも読者を突き放すね。かなり厳しい。

でも好きな人はそんな厳しさも想定済み、むしろ想像、妄想が膨らんで好ましい評価に繋がるでしょう。

と言うわけで、好きな人は買い。
