スーツを着たバトルやGANTZのシステムに慣れ、人の数も集まり全員で生還しようという時の話です。
敵は仏像です。が、圧倒的な強さを誇り、一人また一人と次々に倒れていきます。そしてあのクロノにも死が近づいていきます。果たして生き残れる者は一体何人いるのか・・？

ＧＡＮＴＺはこの辺りまではひたすら上昇曲線な漫画でした。
そしてこの巻がひとつの頂点となりその後しばらく低迷しました。
いや、それは低迷というよりそれは次の頂点を作るためのあるべき姿だったのかもしれません。
１８巻から第二の頂点が始まります。この巻で頂点を感じたのなら次の巻も、その次の巻も買い続けるべきです。

苦戦しながらも大仏星人を倒し、順調にミッションを進めていく玄野達ですが、ラスボス千手観音は圧倒的強さを誇り、仲間が次々殺されていく最悪の事態になります。
玄野ですら、そのあまりの強さの前に重傷を負い、戦闘不能になってしまいます。
この強敵相手に勝機はあるのか！？
恐らく初期ＧＡＮＴＺの中ではこの千手観音が一番強いのではないでしょうか。
ガンツスーツの防御力すら無に帰すその戦闘能力は凄まじいです。
個人的にシリーズの中で一番盛り上がる巻だと思います。

この仏像編が絶頂期だと思う。今のところは。なんといっても千手観音の強さや姿は圧倒で、漫画とはいえ恐怖と絶望感を感じました。傑作です。

今度は仏像と闘う話だが、敵もいっぱい出てきてスーツを着ていても
勝てない状況になってきて、かなりスリルがある。続きが読みたくなる本。
