潰れかけたカレー屋を立て直していくストーリー。登場するカレーのレシピも載っていて、読んでいるうちにもっとカレーが好きになりますよ。

「華麗なる食卓」は2001年から週刊ヤングジャンプで連載された、おそらく初のカレー漫画。世界中で修行を積んだ凄腕の料理人が主人公という設定、店の存亡、ライバル店に、ライバル料理人との勝負、それにヒロイン（結維）との微妙な関係等などは料理漫画の王道だが、なんといってもカレーに絞ってこれだけのコンテンツを説得力もって描けているのが凄い。知識ばかりに比重が傾き、肝心の画がいまいちな料理漫画は多いが、その点「華麗なる食卓」は画や構成、テンポも良い。レシピつきもうれしい。

多分、日本の住人で大っ嫌い!見たくもない!っていう人を探す方が難しい食べ物、カレーをテーマに綴られる物語。
その第一巻がこちら。
専門的な一品料理カレーや本場式カレー、家庭で出来るカレーに一寸変わったアジア諸国のカレーなどなど、カレーだけでここまで漫画として成り立つものか感心するほどのバリエーションで視覚と食欲を掻き立てる、見事な作品です。
どなたかが煙草をくわえて〜、と書かれておられましたが、あれは煙草ではなくシナモンスティックなのだそうですよ?
