作者曰く「あらゆる野球漫画へのアンチテーゼ」
渡久地東亜（とくち・とーあ）というピッチャーが主人公。東亜の球速は120キロ台で変化球もない。変則投法でもなければ、サウスポーでもない。一見、ピッチャーとしては「素人もいいところ」な彼が、強打者や好打者を次々に討ち取る。なぜか？それは、漫画内のある登場人物のセリフにあるように、彼が「ピッチャーである前に、最強の勝負師」だからだ。
この巻は、沖縄での賭け野球に終始しており、いわば序章である。物語の本格的な始動は２巻からだ。
評価が星３つなのは、「１巻に限っていえば星３つ」という意味で、これ以降の展開を加味して、ONEOUTSという漫画全体でいえば、非常に優れた作品だと思う。

『ソムリエ』『LIAR GAME』など、ヒット作を連発する作家さんの作品です。『LIAR GAME』から入った人にもぜひ読んでほしいですね。

野球の面白さの最たるものは、一対一、一対多、多対多の状況が混在しているスポーツの中でも、特に個性が際立つ競技であること。
そこではチームを勝利に導くため、様々な人のドラマが交錯します。

主人公は120km/hそこそこの癖球を抜群の制球力で操る謎の男・渡久地。
彼は大胆不敵な言動と現実離れした策を駆使して、弱小チームを勝利に導く。
アウトローながらも独特のチームワーク観を持つ主人公ですが、実は誰よりもチームを勝利に導くために働く熱血漢であるように思えてきます。
彼の本当の思惑をチームメイトが理解したとき、弱小だったチームが生まれ変わり、ペナントレースに波乱を巻き起こす―

胸躍らせる、野球漫画の本質がこの本にはあります。

ライバル達と必死に練習を積み、正々堂々と戦い、強敵にも「チームワーク」で勝利していく。
この漫画はそんな普通の話ではありません。
この物語の主人公・渡久地東亜は平凡な速度のストレートしか投げられませんが、抜群の制球力と超一級の洞察力や推理力を駆使して、弱小チームを優勝させるために奮闘します。

この漫画と他の野球漫画で決定的に違う点は、一般の野球漫画が野球を「スポーツ」としているのに対し、この漫画は野球を「勝負」だとしている点です。
一見、この違いは大したものではないと思うかもしれませんが、非常に重要な違いです。実際に漫画を読んでみればわかります。


また、アニメ化もされるようで、非常に楽しみにしております。アニメを通してこの素晴らしい作品が更に多くの方々に知られることを期待します。
