冬目景にとっては逆に異色な、ライトな漫画。
この作者の作品は全てそうだと思うけど、大勢でワイワイ
するより、一人でいる方が好きという人のが面白く感じるだろう。
作中のキャラ一人一人が、言い表せないわだかまりみたいのを
抱えていて、それから逃げたり、向き合ったり、乗り越えていったり

する姿がとても良い。人間関係がなかなか進展しない奥手揃いな
ところも、自分と重なったりして共感できる。

まず「絵」ですよ。一見するとラフデザインか?と思うかのような輪郭の不鮮明な登場人物たち。
だが、それは「白」と「黒」の組み合わせで浮かび上がる、さながら「水墨画」に近いような世界だ。
未熟さは感じつつも・・・多分固定ファンは付くのでは?と思わせるものがある。

大学を出たものの、将来の自身の展望を描けないままにフリーター生活を続ける主人公が、想いを寄せ続けるのがかつての同級生の生真面目な女教師。しかも死んだ幼馴染の男を忘れられず、今もとらわれ続けている。

・・・と書くと「めぞん一刻」と似た雰囲気かと思いきや、上記の2人を主軸としてその2人のことを想う周辺人物の心情をも細やかに描き、「いずれは結ばれことが最初から読めてしまっている」めぞん一刻よりは、先行きが気になる作品ではある。

しかも主人公がフリーター、その主人公を好きになった高校を中退した少女・・・等、人物の背景がより現代的になった分、リアルさが増したように思う。
みんながみんな片想いで、順風満帆なカップルなんて全く登場しない。
そこには実るか実らないか判らない自身の気持ちと、先行きの見えない各キャラの人生がクロスして本来ならもっと重苦しいお話になるのではないかなとも思うのだが、なぜか作品としての雰囲気は全体的に明るめなのは意外だ。

欠点は「作者の遅筆」。コミックスがなかなか出ないのを作中で作者自身が自分でツッコミ入れている辺り、かなりの地雷だと思う。

レビューを見たら分かる通り、この作者の作品は好き嫌いがハッキリ分かれます。私はもちろん好きな方です。
この世界観というか雰囲気というか、その辺りに惹かれます。
読んでみないとこの作品の面白さ(またはつまらなさ)はわからないと思います。
古本屋で立ち読みしてみて、気に入ったら買って見て下さい。
