5.0 out of 5 stars 今の少年ジャンプにある数少ない「光」, 2004/11/24
昔のマンガを読んでみて「なんでこんなの面白いと思ったんだろう？」と少年マンガを「卒業」することが多いです。　しかし荒木先生の作品はむしろ逆です。　「なんでこんなの今まで無視してたんだろう？もったいないなあ･･･」と思わせるようなマンガです。　

荒木先生も週刊少年ジャンプから動かないのも、　大人になったファン、まだ大人になりきっていないマンガファンをジャンプに呼び戻すような存在と思っています。　

作者自身も言っていますが、「スティールボールラン」は前作「ジョジョの奇妙な冒険」の延長にあたるものです。　「ジョジョしか描けない」とよく言われますが、自分は「彼にしか『ジョジョ』というは描けない」と考えています。

「ジョジョ」を知らない人でも読みやすく、「ジョジョ」を知っている人にはおまけ的な要素をつめた、新古のファンのための「スマッシュブラザーズ」ジョジョバージョンと例えればわかりやすいと思います。

注意：荒木先生の作品に対して初心者の人は一冊一冊読むよりも、一部まとめて読むことをおすすめします。

待望のJOJO第7部、といってもそれはあまり強調されてなく、6部からの世界観もつながっていないために、新しくこれから荒木作品、JOJOを読もうとする人にお勧め。

もちろん、第一部、もしくは武装ポーカーからのファンでも十分に納得できる、世界に二つとないすばらしい作品になっている。6部からさらに画力も向上していて、非常に絵が細かく、美麗。前に比べると絵が安定して見やすくなっている。なのに、一週間に1冊発売の少年ジャンプに、一話３０P以上という桁外れな量と質を送り、さらには６０P以上の時もあった。

個性的なキャラクターに、息をつかせぬレース。少なくとも、漫画が好きな人は、読むべき。読まない人は、なんかもうかわいそうという感情もこみ上げる。

全80巻の「ジョジョの奇妙な冒険」で６通りの主人公、６通りのストーリー、６通りの挑戦をしてきた（第４部のインフレを起こさず横に逃げていく非ジャンプな敵、第６部の自らの弱点だと言う女性キャラを主人公に選ぶなど見て分かる挑戦もあれば、決して読者に見せない挑戦もあるだろう）その著者が、第７の挑戦として選んだのは「敵を倒す」ではなく「誰よりも早くゴールする」レースという舞台でつむぐ新しい物語で我々をトリコにしてみせることだ。
毎回30P強という驚異の週刊連載で描かれるこの強力で魅惑的な物語、私はその全てに立ち会いたくて週刊はもちろん青マルジャンプまで買っちゃってるよ。
各ステージのゴールで待ってる何万人もの観客と一緒だ。もうこのレースに夢中なんだ。
まだ遅くない。今からだって、走ってる彼らの物語に追い付ける！
