とても頑張っている伊角さんを見ると、自分もいろんなことを頑張ろうという気持ちになります。ヒカルとの一局で、伊角さんの心はどう動くのか、そして最後に涙したヒカルの心は？！１６巻、絶対に見逃せないです！

ストーリー的には一番退屈な巻かもしれません。ヒカルは佐為探しに明け暮れ、あまり展開がないからです。でも個人的には一番好きな巻なんです。

伊角さんが成長する様子、その媒介となる楊海さんのからみ（これがまたいいキャラなんです）、またこれはストーリーとは全く関係ないものの、中国棋院での若手棋士たちの生活が生き生きと描かれていること。こうしたことが好きな理由です。

いや中国の棋士の生活なんて、われわれは囲碁に興味を持っていてもなかなか知らないわけで、堀田さんの取材を通してはじめてそれを知り、最近の国際棋戦での中国勢の活躍の理由がわかったような気がしました。これは余談ですね。

この巻の魅力の一つはなんといっても、言葉も通じない環境の中で「伊角」という人間が成長していく姿をみられることです。「気持ちをコントロールするのは性格ではない、習得できる技術だ」というせりふは、私にとって痛烈でした。

そしてもう一つの魅せ場は、第15巻での苦悩からヒカルが救われる一手が描かれている最後の数ページです。クライマックスの17巻につながっていく大きな分岐点が、説得力のある筆で描かれています。
大好きです。
