　東京にある花染町を舞台に、高校や小学校、交番、大学など、さまざまな場所で生活する人々の群像を描く連作短編集、第二巻です。
　登場人物がいよいよ出揃ってきた感のある今巻では、表紙にもなった"お姫様"と駆け引きをするミステリアスな生徒会長を中心に、花染町住人のストーリーが一気にふくらんで豊かなものになっています。入り組んだ人間関係がくらもち先生の熟練した筆力でさりげなく、しかも印象的に明かされていく様はゾクゾクするほど面白く、一コマ一コマのキレ・鮮やかさも、見事というしかありません。必見！

十分わかっているつもりでいたのに、またしてもくらもちふさこのすごさを再認識させられます。何がすごいって人物を魅力的に描き出す天才ぶりが遺憾なく発揮された会心作です。面白い！　関連しあったエピソードが複数の視点で多角的に描き出されていくオムニバス形式は、短編連作のようにも続き物のようにも感じられる複雑な構成で、同じ瞬間が異なる視点で繰り返され、出来事の意味が重奏的に重ねられます。読者として立ち会いながらその場面が記憶の中でお馴染みになっていく心地よさすらあります。その構成力も素晴らしいし、さらに感心させられるのは僅かなページ数であっという間に感情移入させられてしまうほど、人物をチャーミングに描き出せる手腕。作者本人は人間観察に長けた頭の切れる人なのか、それとも心底チャーミングな人柄が板についた天然に人好きのしてしまう人なのか知るよしもないが、読んでいるとキャラの見た目（記号的な意味）に関係なく情にほだされてしまう。生真面目で融通が利かない天然で田舎者で方向音痴の野生子さんとか、思い込みが激しく堅固な価値観を持ちながら浮世離れした天然系お嬢様の姫ちゃん。音の出ていない街頭テレビにへばりついている見知らぬ女の子のために、チャキポンのセリフを職業上の使命感と人の良さから再現してみせる外山りおなど、その可愛げのある人柄に断然惹かれている自分がいる。

おしゃ階〜天コケあたりまでは『名シーンをもう一度』的な読み返し(特にショパン!)だったのが、α以降どの作品も『ストーリー展開や人物相関を復習するため』に、読み返すこと必須。特に本作品は顕著だと思います。それはそれで美味しいのですが…おばちゃんにはチト辛い(涙)しかし、くらもち先生の御歳を考えると、このパワーには感動と脱帽です!!3巻では更なる進化に期待が膨らみます。
