　この巻は、話の展開は少ないように思えます。というのは複線がいくつか張られているからです。

　ただ、見所がないのかと言うとそうではなく、特に萌の姿勢が変わってきます。

　萌はプライドを捨て、手段を選ばず這い上がっていましたが、７巻で再開した神野と話すうちに、プライドを取り戻します。それは「神野に対してだけは卑怯になりたくない。」という本人自身が気づかないでいる、大切なプライドです。

　自分のお腹の子供の父親が特定できないまま、つわりと腹痛に悩み、確実な中絶方法がない外国で不安になりながら、いつの間にか敵対心を持っていた史緒にも助けられ本来の素直な部分が出てきます。

　萌の卑怯な事をした時の「後ろめたさ」など、悪役の心境が同情したいくらい伝わってきます。　
　そして、人の失敗や粗（あら）を攻める事をやめ、同情ではなく「自分の意思」として人を良い方へ引っ張る姿勢を史緒が身につけます。

　環境が整ってこそ、人は礼儀を知ることが出来る。という諺をあらわすようなこのお話ですが、やっと誇りを持って歩き始めた萌の足を、母親が引っ張りに登場します。

　ドロドロといわれる作品ですが、なぜドロドロになるような事を登場人物がするのかといった背景設定まで細かく計算されていると思います。
　
　今回の作品は「同じ状況になったら、私もこんな事をしてしまうかも。」と怖くなるくらい状況が現実的で、目が離せません。

　非常に内容は濃く、読み応えはある巻ですが、今回はとても気になる所で終わってしまいます。

やはり９巻も素晴らしい。
プライドとしての話の流れも良いですが、
キャラクターの言葉や行動の取り方に毎巻　考えさせられます。

今巻は、「周りの大人」
史緒のルディ
蘭丸のベティ
SRM三人の菜都子ママ
尊敬でき、時に助けてくれて成長させてくれる

一方で萌の母親（多美）は、自身のことしか考えられない人間
自身のために娘に苦しみを強要する

やはり周りの人間の影響力は大きい。

自分もこうなりたい、こうなりたくないと考えさせられます。

以前からずっと感じていますが、いい加減、アシスタントの絵柄をどうにかしてもらいたいです。目立たない人物ならまだしも…読んでいて興ざめ。一条先生のプライドは何処へ?
