「ベルサイユのばら」「ガラスの仮面」「パタリロ！」「あさきゆめみし」「おしゃべり階段」という少女漫画の名作をモチーフにした連作集。でも、原作をなぞったりするわけじゃなくて、原作のエッセンスを抽出して、独自の解釈で新しい（現代的な）物語を生み出しています。その料理の仕方が「そうきたか！」という感じで新鮮。最終話はオリジナルで売れない少女漫画家が主人公なのですが、これがまたいい味出してます。元の漫画のファンはもちろん、そうでない人も、とにかく漫画好きなら楽しめると思います。

自分の中では、殿堂入り少女漫画のベスト10入りの一冊。

歴代の名作漫画をモチーフにした読み切り+現役漫画家さんのリアルな成長・苦闘などを描いた読み切りの6本立てです。漫画については、
「少年漫画に比べて少女漫画は面白くないよ」
「手塚治虫以外は漫画家ではない(←ここまで言わせる読者がいるのが驚嘆、畏敬の念を感じてしまいますが)」
など、色んな意見を耳にします。しかし、作中にて、松田さんは登場人物に語らせている。

『これらの御伽噺を嘲笑する人がいる。彼らは一生気付かないのであろうか?「私をつかまえてごらんなさい」というセリフの意味は世界を獲得した少女の勝利宣言だという事を』

感動の名作漫画への解釈も面白く、またゆっくり読み返してみたくなる。例えばベルばら。「子供の頃はオスカルの妖しさ美しさに 大人になれば史実と虚構を有り得ない程の精度でドラマ化していく作者の力量に総毛立つ。」
私も今、読み返せば違う読みをして堪能するだろう。

松田さんは、名作に新しい光をあて、今度はご自身が名作を生み出した。

なんかの雑誌で紹介されてるのを見てなんとなく読んでみたら、、、、、
好きな漫画家さんに出会ってしまいました。嬉しい発見。
取り扱われている作品でちゃんと読んだことがあるのは、ガラスの仮面だけなのですが
ほかの作品もちゃっと読んでみたい。
ベルばらは、こうきたか、というアレンジで唸りました。
