~この作品は言わずとしれたベテラン作家、岩館真理子が新たに書き始めた
コメディマンガである。

繊細な絵と繊細なストーリーテリング（飛び道具のようなギャグや現実に
ありえないような飛躍を用いずに各登場人物の心理と思惑のすれ違いだけを丹念に
織り上げて「おかしみ」を紡ぎ上げていくという高等な技だと思う）を
~~
用いて書かれた大人のコメディマンガと言ってよいと思う。面白い。

さて、果たしてあなたは過去にこの「アマリリス」に類似したコメディマンガを
読んだことがあるだろうか？
私は無い。この作品はその調子の気張りのなさとは裏腹に、
かなり画期的（前衛的とさえ）と言ってもよい作品なのではないだろうかという気がする。

岩館真理子は、ギャグマンガではなく純「コメディ」マンガとしての新しいマンガ表現を
ここに創り上げているのではないだろうか。
そんなベテランの気概に私は感動している。~

ゆったりとしたテンポの中に、温かいユーモアと、
なかなかリアルな女心も感じさせられるロマンチックラブ・コメディの傑作。

花屋を営む主人公、桃田さんがゲームをしている場面があるんですけど、
自分がゲームしてる時の状態とすごくよく似ているので、みんなこうなのかなとちょっと嬉しくなりました。

後半に入るとギャグマンガ化しているところが少しだけ残念。
落ち着きのある大人っぽい桃田さんが好きだったのに・・・

ある時期から、この作家の描く「大人未満の少女の残酷さ」は、単に少女漫画の枠を超えた迫力があって、自分にとって大人になってもやめられない漫画の一つとなってしまったのだが、一方で、「アマリリス」のように他愛ない日常のスッタモンダや恋愛模様のコミカルなストーリーもやみつきにさせるに十分。繊細かつファッショントレンドをきっちり抑えた画風、人物設定のこまやかさ。なんとなくはぐらかされたような、とらえどころのない展開が多いが、その分何度も読み返したくなるし、いろんな箇所に楽しみを見出せるのが岩館ワールドだと思う。この作品の1巻で私にとって肝だったのは女性の主人公より、恋愛相手となる「赤井さん」。人畜無害ではあるが、コミュニケーションにたいして妙に受身で女性関係でも流され易く、恋愛温度のひくーい感じのやつ・・・いるいる~って感じ（笑）。女性にとってはもっともイライラするタイプの典型で、それゆえ彼をとりまく女性陣のいがみ合いがこっけいなのだ。
