『コブラ』は1979年から「週刊少年ジャンプ」に掲載され人気を博したスペースオペラ漫画です。寺沢氏独特のリアルタッチな画と、それで描かれる抜群のプロポーションを持つ美女達とコスチューム、それと左腕にサイコガンという銃を持つ屈強な主人公コブラが他にはないオリジナリティをもち、それが非常にうけました。宇宙が舞台であっても決しておおざっぱな話にならず、どこか淡々とストーリーが進み、アクションもこれといって特異なものといったわけではありませんが、その軽く進むストーリーの中でもちょっとしたセリフがかっこよかったり、派手すぎないアクションが画風にマッチしていたりとその魅力は尽きません。未読な方は是非、昔読んだことある人は再び、今読んでも決して古さを感じないかっこよさがこの漫画にはあります。その「コブラ」の本巻では道具やメカが全て奇妙な生き物に変身してしまうという魔法に満ちた惑星マハドーマでその魔法の源泉を仲間と共に捜すコブラが海賊ギルド突撃兵の魔の手に…。コブラと美少女ラナの冒険が始まった・・・。

おそらく美少女人形ザナドゥが本当の人間になるというのが続編ストーリーの柱だと想像しているのだが、ＶＯＬ．１２はいつ出るのだろうか。かなり待ちくたびれてしまった。

　この大判カラーシリーズは過去の作品にカラーリングしたものと書き下ろし作品が混在するが、これは書き下ろし作品なのでなかなか筆が（武一氏はＭＡＣで書いているらしいので筆は適切でないかも知れないが）進まないのだろうとは思うのだが、１年以上も待たされるとちょっと・・・・・。

作者の出世作宇宙海賊コブラ。　初期こそ、作者がアシスタントを勤めていた手塚作品の影響を受けたひょうきんな絵でしたが、フルCGで描くようになってから、本当に凄くなりました。もちろん、手書きでも充分なものがかける画力があるのに、です。
これは最新版で、サブタイトルは「マジック・ドール編」なつかしのキャラ『人形使いのマリオ』の作った新しいあやつり人形が表紙のお姉ちゃんです。ジョン・レノンファンのヴァンパイヤ、頭が金魚鉢の不思議共同生命体など世界観はさすが。

しばらく病気でお休みされていたそうで（ご本人HP）すが、めでたく、連載が再開されたので続きを読める日は近いでしょう！
