第四部は町が舞台。
いくつものエピソードが展開していき、それが集まると一つの町の地図になっているような構成になっている。

「普通の町の住人がスタンド使い」というのが何ともミステリアスでいい。あと、主人公の東方仗助のスタンドは戦闘向きの能力ではないが、その応用力で能力を最大源に発揮して敵に立ち向かう姿がカッコよかった。（優れた戦略をたてて闘った父、ジョセフ・ジョースター譲り？）

杜王町は、学校、図書館、デパート、コンビニ、カフェがあるのは勿論のこと、交通の便はいいし海が近く夏はバカンスが楽しめる。高級ホテル、別荘地と宿泊施設は完備。（多分）世界一美味いイタリアレストランもあるし、有名人（漫画家　岸辺露伴）も住んでいる。

　前巻で、壮大なＪＯＪＯのストーリーは一度完結し、新たな物語が始まります。ジョースター家とディオとの宿命は、無関係とは言いませんが、この第四部からはほとんど登場しません。

　そして、格闘マンガとして超有名なあのマンガが迷走を始めていたこの頃、ＪＯＪＯは「本当に恐ろしい敵とはなにか？」というテーマを意外な角度から捉えています。
　第四部は、杜王町という一つの町の中で展開されます。日本から遥かエジプトまで旅をした壮大な第三部とはうってかわって、日常という観点で「敵」を描いています。そういう意味で、この第四部は他のジョジョのストーリーとはちょっと異なる雰囲気を感じます。

　一気に突っ走ってきた感のある１〜３部に比べ、ちょっと様子の変わった第四部は、単なる格闘マンガとはちょっと違う魅力に溢れています。

そこで見つけたその隠し子は髪を貶されたら激怒する変わった性格の持ち主だった。

第4部の第1巻。　初期の仗助はすごいゴツイ…
