主人公は今どきめずらしい純真純朴な高校生・郁子。
そして彼女の飼い犬であるマメタロウ。
このマメタロウの視点から見た、郁子と同級生・秋吉との恋のお話。
マメタロウ・・・花子ちゃんという可愛い紀州犬の彼女がいるにも関わらず、大好きな郁ちゃんを取られたことでかなりご立腹です。
ことあるごとに秋吉を敵視し、土をぶっかけます（笑）

でも大好きな郁ちゃんが恋に悩み、泣いているとどうしても放っておけなくなり、ついついあれこれときっかけを与えて助けてしまう・・・
そんなマメタロウがかなり好きですね。(^^)
このお話に登場する動物達はみんな、モノローグもセリフも（もちろん読者だけが聞こえる）普通に人間の感覚と同じような感じ。

それぞれコンプレックスや悩みも抱えて!るんですね。ちゃんと。
実際そうなのかもしれない、と考えるとなんだか飼っているペット達が面白く思えてきますね。
マンガによくある「かっこつけ」が無くて、とってもピュアであったかいお話です。

この本は、わたしが小学六年頃に友達からいっかい見せてもらいました。（５巻くらいまで）高一になった今、ふと思い出してかってみようかなぁ、と何日か悩んだ末、ついににかいました・・・金欠のくせに。

でも、買って後悔はいっさいないです。と、ゆうよりもはやく次回号がみたい！！とゆう衝動？みたいなものがあって、もうお金の事なんていまでは考えていないくらいです。（それも考えモノ）
読んでいると心があったかくなって、動物の事情なんかもわかります。

人間、動物。どちらも主役といえませんが、とにかく読む価値はあるとおもいます。もし、おかねによゆうがあるならぜひ。オススメですよ~
