5.0 out of 5 stars 愚直な男たちの熱い「物語」, 2004/2/14
六大学野球で神宮に足を運び、東大戦を観戦したことがあります。
試合はわが大学のワンサイドゲームで、非常に退屈した記憶がありますが、
この本を読んだ今、そう感じたことを反省しています。

この本は、それぞれ様々な想いを抱えながら、
それでも、愚直に応援する応援団員の姿を紹介しています。

様々なエピソードが登場しますが、そのどれもが感動的です。

本文で、立教大応援団長の言葉、「応援する人間は、応援される人間より強くなければならない」、とともに、「より努力する人間こそ、人に対してがんばれ、といえる」ということが紹介されています。応援団員は他の人間以上に、「自分を律する」ことが求めれているようです。しかしながら「自律」とは「自分の旋律」を生きることだ、と考えたとき、濃密な日常に生きる彼らは、まさしく自分の旋律の中で生きていると感じました。

私は何度も涙ぐみました。
また別の視点で六大学野球を見ることができそうです。

表紙に惹かれ何気なく読み始めたが，その内容は非常に感動的な場面が多く，最近物事に本気で感動する機会の少ない身には新鮮であり，文章のテンポが軽快なことも手伝って一気に最後まで読んでしまった。部員の『ハイーッ』『イイエェェーッ』（そうだー）等の返事・掛け声は，まるで本当に聞こえてくるかのような臨場感がある。

体育会（東大の場合は「運動会」だそうだが）の中でもひときわ異彩を放つ応援部（応援団）。なかなか表の活動も裏の活動も紹介されることは少ないが、この本は彼らが何を考え、何を悩み、どういう活動や練習を行っているかが垣間見えて大変面白い。また、退部部員の心の葛藤などもあり、読み応えがあった。
