トライスロンというスポーツを経て
少しずつ大人になっていく３人の少年の物語です。
読み進むほどに作品の世界に入り込み
あたかも自分の同級生の織りなす物語を横で眺めている様でした。
少し生意気な、未完成な少年たちの世界は本当に爽やかです。
今、そんな季節にいる少年少女だけでなく
かつてそんな季節にいた大人にも楽しめる１冊です。
これは冒頭からラストまで一気に読み
読後に湧いてくるしみじみとした感情を噛み締めていただきたいです。
心をさっぱりと洗いたい方にお勧めです。空をつかむまで (集英社文庫 せ 4-3)

市町村合併を控えた茨城県（推定）のある村を舞台に，中学生3人組がトライアスロンに挑む過程を通して，友情のカタチを問う物語。

はかったように敵キャラが現れて，それに向かって強引に勝負を仕掛けるあたりはまさに少年漫画的。レースのシーンが終わるところまでは予想通りの展開ですが，そこは現代の小説，これだけでは終わりません。

レース後に3人に与えられる出来事と，そこから立ち上がるまでの流れは，涙をこぼす人も出てくるでしょう。最終ページの優太のセリフ，彼から直接言われているような気がして，妙にジーンと来たっす。

最後の30ページあまりで，ありがちな青春小説という印象をひっくり返して，お釣りが来たような読後感でした。

読んでいると邪まな思考が矯正され、魂が浄化されていく感動が味わえました。
作者はストーリーよりも文章で読ませる作家のようで、三人の少年たちの葛藤や喜びが伝わって瞼が熱くなりました。中高生向きの小説として売られているみたいですが、世代を超えて心を震わす感動作です。逃げ水の中を走る少年の汗が眩しく見えるような、ひと夏の青春譚。傑作です。
