初めて彼の作品を読みました。５組のカップルの話。恋愛と温泉ておもしろいなと思いました。古風なようで古くない、恋愛の親密さが出ていてこういう恋愛もいいかなと思いました。のんびり、ほのぼのが好きな人にはいいかもしれません。

舞台となる５つの宿はどうやらすべて実在するようです
何気に検索してみたら、５つの旅館ともきちんとHPが存在してました。
しかも全部いい旅館・・・！
吉田修一さん・・・たぶん取材で訪れたんでしょうね。
いいな〜、羨ましいな〜。

温泉というと「非日常を求めて」行くというイメージがあるけど、
彼らは温泉で日常の問題に向き合う。
離婚、夫婦けんか、不倫・・・。

しかしそれらの難しい問題にも、
温泉は柔軟な考えと答えを導きだしてくれるようだ。
心のリフレシッュ？ってやつかな。

リウマチや婦人病に効くのはもちろんだけど、
温泉の目に見えない効能・・・それは「心に効く」ことなのかもしれない。
よく温泉の入り口に効能を書いた看板のようなものがあるけれど、
あれに書いてもいいくらい立派な効能じゃないですかね？？

どのお話も明確な結論がなく、
行く末は読者の想像に任せるようなかんじで締められている。
お風呂からあがっても体のほてりがすぐには消えないのと似たような余韻が残ります。

この本を読んで、温泉がますます好きになりました（笑）

温泉を訪れるカップルの短編５を収録。わが家の近所にも温泉があるが、すれちがう湯上りのカップルの表情は、何かホッとしているというか、満ち足りているというか、無防備というか、とてもすっきりとした表情をしている。

「初恋温泉」にも様々なカップルが登場するが、どの主人公も、温泉にきて心が解放されるのか、素直に自分と彼女との関係を見つめなおす。過去の様々な場面が去来する。何もかも順調な筈なのに離婚を言い出した妻、しゃべり過ぎる２人が温泉で静寂を体験、不倫の終末、保険外交員の妻とのすれ違い、高校生カップルの初めての温泉旅行。どの話もしっとりとした良さがある。

個人的には、彼女にいいところを見せようと遮二無二頑張って都心に次々にダイニング・レストランをオープンさせたのに彼女の心が離れていってしまうタイトルにもなった「初恋温泉」が良かった。彼女の「幸せなときだけをいくらつないでも幸せとは限らない」との言葉が心に沁みる。この１話だけでも本を買う価値があるかな。
