　今年直木賞を受賞した北村薫が、２００７年から２００９年にかけて雑誌媒体に発表した８編を収めた一冊です。
　北村薫が「私と円紫さん」や「ベッキーさん」のシリーズで扱ってきたような日常に潜む些細な謎をもとに紡いだ物語でありながら、怪異譚といった性格を強く持つお話がそろっています。

　しかし必ずしも多くの読者に好意的に受け止められる物語ばかりではないような気がしました。
　表題作の「元気でいてよ、R2-D2。」にはさほど感心しませんでした。
　「腹中の恐怖」は確かに怖気(おぞけ)を震(ふる)って立ちすくんでしまうような展開を見せる物語ではありますが、北村薫の長年のファンを自認する私には、彼の紡ぐ物語というものに対してある一定の期待値を持っていて、そこからは遥かに遠い不気味さが残る、後味の悪さが気になりました。
　「さりさり」と「よいしょ、よいしょ」にも特に思うところがありませんでした。

　一方「マスカット・グリーン」には、人生の路傍に思わぬ形で置かれた密やかな闇を見せられた気がして、実に北村薫らしい一品だなと唸らされました。この物語の闇は誰しもが気づくわけではないものですが、主人公の涼子はふとしたきっかけで気づいてしまいます。闇の持つ妖しさのみならず、気づいてしまうことの痛みにも思いが至ります。

　私がもっとも気に入ったのは「微塵隠れのあっこちゃん」。
　人生を歩む上で誰もが等し並みにそれぞれ積み上げていく記憶のかけら。あつ子があの日、明るい障子の向こうに見た日常がひときわ大きなかけらとなって彼女の人生を、時に重く圧（お）し、また時に懐かしい温もりをもって包みこむ。
　同様に私にも「きっと、人生の終わり近くになっても、まだ鮮やかに思い出す」その時があるはずだ。
　主人公と読者である私が重なる一瞬をそこに見出すことが出来る一編として読むことができ、私は今とても嬉しく感じています。

「水に眠る」という短編集以来、北村薫さんの短編は大好きです。

日常に潜む、言葉に出来ない悪意や好意や気持ちの交差。
ひっそりとした悲しみや憂い（これを描いたものが一番好みなのです）。

うぁぁあ！！（私は穴があったら即刻入って、影すらも残したくない気持ち、と取ってますが）と思うような落ちにはいたりませんでしたが、何度も読み返し、慈しみたい。

北村薫さんの全8編収録の短編集。

北村さんの作品は今まであまり読んだ事がなかったけれど、この短編集は陰と言うか毒を含んでいて色々考えながら読めた面白い一冊でした。

こんな日常の中に潜む毒を描いた作品は深くて結構好きです。
人間心理の奥深さも感じました。

「三つ、惚れられ」が印象に残ります。
