この世にこれだけ「ギャグ漫画」というものが隆盛しているのだから、「ギャグ小説」なるものがあってもいいではないか、ということで作られた作品であるらしい。作者自身の作品では「どすこい。」という傑作もあるのだから、これは目新しい事業ではないけれど、それでもやはり小説でギャグを成立させるのはかなりの難事業なのだろう。「どすこい。」に比べるとかなり見劣りし、この作品集で成功しているのは、有名まんがを取り入れた「ぬらりひょんの褌」と「巷説ギャグ物語」だけだと思うからである。とくに後者は赤塚不二夫との共作である。ギャグまんがなのに読んでいて少し泣けたのは、古き良き60年代を思い出させる、今の若い人にはわからない昔の赤塚スターたちの影がほの見えたからであった。私にとって、この厚い本を読んだ価値は、ここだけにあったと言ってよい。

これ以外の作品は、要するに弱いものいじめで楽しむ悪ふざけ作品集である。キャラクターの個性が弱いので、スラップスティックコメディとしても大分無理がある。読みながら私がずっと思い続けたのは「時間が勿体ない」ということであった。

まんがなら（比較の問題として）簡単なことが、小説ではこれだけ難しい。私以上の世代の人には無闇にまんがを貶める人が少なくないけれど、この作品は期せずして、まんがというジャンルが立派に小説と対峙しうることを証明したと思う。

「どすこい（仮）」の続編というか、並列的な作品。
肩の力を抜いて読み進むことができます。
京極先生はこんな一面もあるのだと楽しめる作品です。

「どすこい（仮）」では、生暖かいような恐怖感があったのですが、
今回はとことんギャグにこだわった感があります。
内容の個人的好みで、星一つマイナスです。

しかしながら、今回引用した作品の中でも特に平山夢明氏の「独白するユニバーサル横メルカトル」を基にした、
タイトルと表紙の絵のオマージュ（パロディ？）は最高です。
その他のチョイスもニヤッとしてしまいます。

このタイプの路線はぜひ続けて欲しい！

京極夏彦は作品の二面性という点において、現代の遠藤周作となると思われます。

京極夏彦の作品はうぶめの夏から全てになる目を通してきました。
自分は大好きな作家さんです。
ですが…生まれて初めて最後まで読めない本がこの本でした。

この本が好きな方には申し訳ないけど、こち亀ぐらいですね。面白いと思ったのは。
まー、毎回同じ展開
ただイライラする長いだけの文章…


凄い面白い物書ける人だけにこれはないなぁって感じです。
他の作品は好きなんですけどね。
これはおすすめしません
