　恋愛と結婚を一続きの地平でシンプルにとらえた味わい深い作品だった。夫の不倫と、その後のボタンの掛け違え。あまりにもありふれた素材を、全くドラマチックに盛り上げることなく、そっけなく描ききった。
作中「のゆり」が感じるように、確かに恋愛なんてつまらないものだ。そんなに大騒ぎする物か？食べたり、働いたり、セックスしたり、いたずら電話にいらついたりする日常の一要素じゃないか。でも、そういいながら動揺する。動揺を言葉で整理して分析して、落ち着こうとするのだけれど涙が出る。
いいなあ。この小説には「ふつうの人間」が、息を殺すようなひそやかで確かな手応えで描かれていた。

川上さんの新作、楽しみにしていました。

が。

まず、「のゆり」とされた主人公に感情移入ができなかった。
（「のゆり」って名前もなんだか馴染みにくい。ん？　それが狙い？）

自分に自信がなくてボーっとしているようで
結構自在に年下の男の子とデートをしたり、叔父と二人で
温泉旅行に行ったり。（夫は何も言わないのだろうか？）

ウジウジしてる割に大胆というか。

こういう女の人は同性から嫌われやすいのかな。
作者はわかって書いてるんでしょうけれど。

第一章は良かったので、無理に長編にせず、短編のまま
余韻や謎を残して終わっても良かったのでは？

追えば逃げられ、逃げれば追われ、恋愛の王道って感じ。
主人公「のゆり」の夫卓哉の浮気が発覚してからの流れが
川上さん特有のゆらゆらした文章で描かれている。
うまい文章でないと、よくある話って感じで読む気が
しないけど、そこは川上さん、とても上手。
でも私はのゆりみたいな女は嫌いかも。
ちょっと愚鈍。感情に起伏があまりないし。
こういうのれんに腕おしみたいな人、ちょっと
ずっと生活していくのは嫌だな。
最後は余韻のある終わり方。物語というより
川上さんのたゆたうような文章を楽しんだって感じ。
