個人的に、『星の王子さま』の原典と日本語訳を手に入る範囲で比較したことがある。
結論としては、池澤訳が最も正確であった。その正確性と氏の簡潔な文体が融合しており
新訳の中では屈指の出来だと思われる。特にここで名指しはしないが、新訳の中には
誤訳、創作、破綻した日本語が多く含まれているものも何作品かあるため
『星の王子さま』をよりよく理解したい方には、ぜひこの池澤訳をお勧めしたい。

サン=テグジュペリが行方不明（たぶん戦死で、サン=テグジュペリの搭乗機らしきものが数年前に地中海で発見されたという新聞記事を読みました）となってから50年たち、著作権が切れたため、今まで岩波書店しか出版できなかった「星の王子さま」が、いろいろな出版社から新訳として出版されました（このような現象は珍しいと思います。それだけこの作品が名作ということでしょう）。

多くの人が昔、読んで覚えているのは、岩波書店出版の内藤氏翻訳のものでしょう。

本書も新訳された一つです。翻訳者は芥川賞作家の池澤夏樹氏です。
内藤氏訳と比べると、漢字の使用量がやや多めで、文体も堅めになっていると思います。

翻訳による違いを楽しむのも面白いかもしれません。
本書は文庫で小さく持ち運びやすいので、手軽に持ち運べるというメリットがあります。

「これが一番好きな本」と最初に貸してくれたのは大学時代の同級生であった。
　なぜ、この本が好きなのか。通読できなかった。
　　「いまさら童話でもない」
　ぼくの身体はヨロイをかぶっていたのだ。

　しかし、気になっていた。
　出会った。
　池澤夏樹の新訳『星の王子さま』、文庫版で可愛かった。
　病院のベッドで読んだ。
　手術前に通読できた。
　身にしみとおるおはなしだった。ぼくは納得したのだ。
　そして、夜空をみて、星の王子さまの星をさがしている。
　「こんなことはあってもいいのだ」
　ぼくの身体のヨロイはきれいさっぱり消えていた。
　ぼくの加齢のためか。
　手術前の極限状況のためか。
　あるいは、池澤夏樹氏の新訳がすばらしかったためか。
　ぼくは、とても、本来の自分によみがえったようなきがする。
　それにしても、サンテグジュベリはすばらしい。
　60歳をこえてようやく読み終えることができた。
　この作品を知ってから40年以上経過していた。

　現在『Ｌe　Ｐetit　Ｐrince』は、新訳ラッシュらしいが、ぼくにとっては、出会いは「内藤訳」、通読できたのは「池澤訳」であった。
　「ちいさな王子さま」の本はやはり可愛い文庫本でないといけない。
　大きな本であれば、通読できたかどうか疑問。
　ぼくには、この本が日本語訳の基準になる。
