遺伝子操作、体外受精をあつかった、医療サスペンス。

両親と似ていないこと、母親が自分を見る眼が冷たいことを意識して北海道で成長してきた鞠子は、ある出来事をきっかけに、自分の出生の秘密を調べ始める。
一方、アマチュアバンドのボーカルとしてテレビ出演した双葉は、テレビ出演をきっかけに母親がひき逃げに会う。父親の顔を知らずに育った双葉も、この事件をきっかけに自分の出生の秘密を調べ始める。
やがてそれぞれが、自分に容貌の酷似した女性が存在することを知る。

この内容をベースに、様々な大人達の思惑を絡め、秀逸なサスペンス作品として仕上がっている。作品の構成も、「鞠子の章」「双葉の章」を交互に配し、スピード感のある展開とともに、読む者を飽きさせない。ラストシーンも映像が眼前に鮮やかに浮かぶほどきれいにできあがっている。

原題は「ドッペルゲンガー症候群」

遺伝子操作、体外受精をあつかった、医療サスペンス。

両親と似ていないこと、母親が自分を見る眼が冷たいことを意識して北海道で成長してきた鞠子は、ある出来事をきっかけに、自分の出生の秘密を調べ始める。

続きが気になって気になってどんどん読み耽ってしまう。
まぁ、東野圭吾さんの小説は全部そうですが。。
本当に東野圭吾さんの話はどれも甲乙つけがたいですが、
あえて1番面白かったものと聞かれたら、、
容疑者X〜も捨てがたいですが、「分身」を選びます。
