　一章、二章と、陳腐な表現をすれば「ハラハラドキドキ」させてくれた物語ですが、正直なところ第三章はちょっと失速でした。
　第三章ではアフリカから何とか日本に帰国した大生部一行とバキリとの対立が明らかになっていきます。バキリが明確な「敵」として襲ってくる恐怖がイヤというほど味わえます。物語としては、クライマックスに向けてフルスピードで進んで行きます。

　個人的な意見かも知れませんが、第三章では
１．ココまで作り上げてきたキャラクターが、容赦なく次々と「処分」されていくように感じられる。
２．「呪術」に対してのアプローチが完全に「超能力」にシフトしてしまっているように思える。手品･トリックといった側面がやけに薄い。
３．バキリVS大生部チームの「戦い」が、少年漫画のようにチープ
に感じてしまい、☆を減らしてます。

　一章、二章でかなり盛り上がっただけに、このラストはちょっと残念でした。

テレビ番組クルー等の犠牲者を出して、危機一髪、長女と共に東京に戻ってきた主人公一家。それで終わらないところがらもさん一流のストリーテラーたる所。呪術師バギリはその力と裏世界のコネをもって日本に追いかけてきていた。そして関連する登場人物が一人一人と不可解、無惨な死をとげていく。スティーブン・キングのシャイニングのようなホラーへと物語は一変する。この作品を執筆中、らもさんの健康は良い状態ではなかったとの事であるが。前編・中編・後編と次々に観点と読者の予想を裏切っていくプロットは推理作家、ミステリー作家と言った枠組みの中では生まれないであろう本格的エンターティメント小説である。

この作品を読んだのは恐らく５年以上も前になりますが、今でも
内容をはっきり覚えています。（何回も読みましたから）
そして、私の中でこれを超える作品は今のところありません。
月並みながら、究極のエンターテイメントという形容が最も相応し
い作品であり、読書の悦びを私に教えてくれたバイブルです。

超能力対マジック、新興宗教の闇、科学で割り切れぬ不思議な力、
メディアへの風刺、雄大なアフリカ大陸での冒険、家族愛、等々、
これだけのエッセンスを盛り込みながら、息もつかせぬスピーディ
な展開に、読者は中島らもの魔力に絡め取られます。
笑いあり、涙あり、ドキドキあり、夢あり、薀蓄あり、これ以上
一体何を求めることがありましょう。

周囲の人間に布教活動さながら勧めてきましたが、老若男女問わず
好まれるようですので、安心して読んで下さい。
睡眠不足を覚悟の上で。
