上巻、下巻を一気に読みました。

題材も珍しい（2.26事件を改変？確定？）ですが、時間歴史
操作の仕掛けが斬新で瞠目です。

ここまで壮大で多重構造な世界観を展開するとは、予想外で
うれしい誤算です。
映画、小説など、過去のタイムパラドックス、タイムトラベルもの
の作品からうまくアイデアを融合し、かつ、ミステリー仕立てで
ぐいぐい引っ張り、稀代のストーリーテリングが出来上がっています。

ラストにも登場しますが、映画「マトリックス」シリーズの影響
が随所に出てきますが、単にイマジネーションのヒントだけで、
核心は、著者の独創性と、読者を離さない伏線の数々。

「どうなっちゃうんだどう」いう気持ちをぐいぐい引っ張り、
一気にクライマックスへ突入する、重厚で複雑な物語構成は、
圧巻です。

堪能しました。

この小説の世界は映像にする価値が大きい。そうすることで、恩田さんの世界がより具体的になると思う。シールドの表現などはドキドキすると思う。二・二六事件は、雪の中で赤い色が印象的だから、映像の世界で物語の展開を見てみたい。

過去の歴史に介入することができる技術を手に入れた人類。
国連は歴史の転換点ともいえる「2.26事件」への介入を試みます。
国連の介入により一見歴史が正しい方向へ向かったようにも見えましたが、それに伴い新たな事件や謎が次々と浮き彫りになってきます。
最終的に歴史はどう変わるのか？やはり人類は同じ歴史を辿ることになるのか？
「2.26事件」というとても難しい題材ではありますが、恩田さんは「シンデレラの靴」「シールド」等という独自の表現を使うことによって、物語は解りやすく、そしてミステリー要素を散りばめながらもきっちりとSFに収束されています。
錯綜する時間、情報、空間…人類が如何に過去への介入をしようともやはりそれも予め決められた歴史なのでしょうか。
時間遡行の恐ろしさと興味深さを感じた一冊です。
