直木賞受賞作家である唯川恵氏による。
現実の事件を時代に沿って背景に織り込みつつ、男女の結婚生活を甘さを排除して描く。

結婚式からいきなり躓いた文彦と永遠子。
浮気、リストラ、育児、介護と、二人に次々と降りかかる現実的な問題。
それらを通して衝突、裏切り、挫折する様がお互いの視点で描かれていて面白い。
物語中、二人は常に喧嘩し、罵り合っていたので、
もう駄目だろう、もう離婚するだろうと思いながら読み進めた。
しかし、それでもどこかで繋がり続ける二人。
きっと心の奥底、根っこの先では強く繋がっていたに違いない。

結婚という一つの試練。
これはその試練を、ボロボロになりながらも無意識に乗り越えようとする、男女の物語。

まあ、波乱万丈の１０年間って感じ（笑

でも、これが究極の不幸かどうかと考えると、

正直「そうでもないんじゃない？｣と思う。

もっともっと不幸な人生なんて、世の中ざらに転がってます。

これを読んで、「とっても不幸な結婚」って思う人は、

結婚しないほうがいいんじゃないかなぁ？

文庫本で約450ページの長編恋愛結婚家族小説。

1989年のバブル絶頂期に結婚した夫婦を、
結婚式からその後10年くらいを描いた話。
バブル崩壊やサリン事件などこの時代を賑わした社会的事件も描かれており、
物語のリアリティさを演出している。

別れそうで別れない夫婦の話はよくあるかもしれないが、
そんな類の話の中でもキワメツケかもしれない。
波乱の結婚式、成田離婚の可能性を充分に含む新婚旅行を経て、
なんとかそこを切り抜けつつも、
バブル崩壊による株価暴落、出世競争に敗れリストラ、
夫婦お互いの度重なる浮気など
次から次へとトラブルがふりかかる。
そしてそれらはすべて解決されるわけではないのに、
そして夫婦感の愛情も怪しくて仕方がないにも関わらず、
離婚しない。

それが最後は幸せな感じで終わってるという不思議な話。

この作品は40歳くらいに読むともっと実感を持って読めるだろう。
20代にはちとはやすぎる。
結婚経験者ならもっと味わって読めたのかも。

また、子供、夫婦お互いの両親が登場する。
家族愛も本書のテーマであろう。
そこにも熟年離婚、介護問題、小学校お受験など、
まあこれなにかと盛り沢山な小説。

主人公の夫婦を含め、その他多くの登場人物が、
時代の流れに応じて、様々な変化を遂げていく。
それもまた本書の魅力だろう。
