タイトルにもなっている「この道に至らんと思はん者は、非道を行ずべからず」という「風姿花伝」の世阿弥の言葉を縦糸に、歌舞伎界の裏の世界を横糸に編まれた、見事なミステリーです。
歌舞伎界の表舞台に立っている人物だけでなく、裏に生きている人物の精緻な描写が、この物語の世界で起こっている殺人事件だけでなく、様々などろどろとした人間関係を共感、反感共々に感じさせてくれます。
ミステリーとしても、なかなか犯人の姿が見えず、読み応えのある作品です。

歌舞伎の世界の、芝居の作者、芸を極めようとする役者、裏方達など、また、事件の解決に苦労する町方の役人など、多彩な顔ぶれが、それぞれ個性豊かに描かれていて、とてもおもしろかったと思います。
少し、殺人事件の解決は、今ひとつと思いましたが。
