　江國香織は女の人が読むもんだとゆーどこからか生まれた先入観で今まで読んだことがなかったんだけど、あまりに素敵なタイトルに思わず手にとってしまった。で、読んだら目から鱗。もったいなかったなぁ、もっと早く読んどきゃよかったなぁと後悔。表題作、「うんとお腹をすかせてきてね」、「りんご追分」が好きで、特にドキリとさせられたのは「りんご追分」。現実の一瞬を切り取る朝の公園のトランペットのりんご追分。トランペットの音色と、りんご追分という曲以外の組み合わせが考えられないくらいにはまってます。詳しく書きたいけど、これから読む人の印象が薄れるので略。表題作のリアルな生活の距離感、「うんと~」のみずみずしいほどの食と身体の躍動感。まだ江國香織を読んだことのない人、この本からどうですか？

　僕は個人的に江國香織という作家は好きで、ほとんどの作品を読んでいますが、この短篇集はその中でも１、２を争うくらい好きな作品だといっていいです。
　新たな境地を切り開いた彼女の出世作というべきこの短篇集は、どこを切っても宝石のような言葉で満ちています。彼女のこれまでの仕事のみならず、日本の現代文学にとっても、とても大切なものだと思います。(山本周五郎賞を受賞)

　アメリカの現代作家を模したと思われる作品が多いですが、圧巻は表題作の「泳ぐのに、安全でも適切でもありません」です。とにかくこんなさりげない形で、渇いた絶望と諦観、愛と死を切り取れる作家は、ほかにはいないと思います。
　シングルカットするなら間違いなく「りんご追分」でしょうが、言葉そのものがその心臓を号泣するようなこの感情の高ぶりは、間違いなくこの作家の真骨頂です。ほかに、「サマーブランケット」や「うしなう」など、彼女でしか描けない傑作が目白押しで、「ジェーン」など、案外これは自伝ではないのか、と僕は勝手に勘繰ったりしていますが、外国を舞台にした彼女の作品も、個人的にはとても好きです。　

　すでに単行本のレビューで多くのかたがこの著作に言及していますけど、敢えてレビューを書いたのは、解説の山田詠美さんの言葉がとても素晴らしいものだからということもあります。
　この著作を読んでいないかたは、是非、この文庫本のほうを手にとって、江國香織という人がいかに貴重な作家であるのかを汲みとってもらえたならと思いますし、実際この短篇集は素晴らしいです。
　直木賞受賞作の「号泣する準備はできていた」を読んで、がっかりしたという人が多いみたいで、できればこっちのほうを読んでもらいたかった。あの一冊で、江國香織という人がわからなかった、もう読まない、という意見を訊くのは、とてももったいないことだと思います。

本短編集の第２話「うんとおなかをすかせてきてね」で、まずクラッときました。
で、その感覚を保ったまま他の話を読んでいくと、他にも２〜３話ほど同じようにクラッとくる作品がありました。

なんというか、こう、何気ない文章にいきなり心臓を鷲づかみにされたような、そんな感じです。

江國さんの短編は、一度ハマると抜け出せなくなるらしいですが、私もいよいよその魅惑的な世界にハマりつつあります。

あと、山田詠美さんのあとがきもいい感じでした。
