とりあえずタイトルが秀逸ですね。
字と響きだけでだいたいの設定を想像することができます。
作中では徹底して「娼夫」と表現されていますが、「ホスト」でも「男娼」でもなく「娼年」。
主人公の危うさが感じられる。

セックスに関心のない大学生がふとしたことから娼夫となり、様々な欲望のかたち、快楽の追求といったことを体験していきます。

それはセックスであったり、それとは違うかたちであったり。
自分の欲求が普通だと思っている人もいるし、異常だと自覚している人もいる。
気負うことなく彼女たち（大抵はかなり年上）を受け入れていく主人公が不思議です。
快楽ではなく娼夫という仕事にはまっていく彼の先に待ちうけるものは何でしょう。

人に安らぎを与えることのできる仕事はそれでも非難されるべきなのか。

文章に透明感がありドライなせいか、セックスの描写は艶はあるのに生々しさとは無縁で、そこが特に好き嫌いがわかれるかもしれません。
ただ、この作品の根底に流れるテーマはそれとは別のところに位置していると思いました。

読んでいてやさしい気持ちになることのできる作品でした。

友人から食わず嫌いする私に、
嫌いになるならこれを読んでからにしてくれと言われ、
しぶしぶ購入して読みました。
各種マスメディアにおける彼の言動がどうも鼻についてダメだったのです。
なんとなくこの「鼻につく嫌味」を理解して頂ける方も中にはいらっしゃるかと思います。
石田衣良ファンの方はすいません。

しかしながら、読み始めて数時間。
完全にとまでは言えませんが、考えが変わりました。
お見それしやした。

単なる「２０歳大学生のひと夏の思い出日記」を軽々と飛び越えて、
「欲望って、どんなもの？」
という人間の本質的なテーマを問う作品です。

最近、石田衣良の言うことにイライラしながらも
欲望を持て余している、あなた。
イライラするのはまだ早い。

　石田衣良さんの小説は前から読みたくて、今回初めて手に取った。
なんといっても題名から気になるし、衝撃的だし、主人公同い年、同じ夏だし。
この今読めてよかったなと思える作品。題名ほどやばい作品ではない。
主人公リョウを取り巻く人々の描写がとてもリアルに感じられた。実際に、男の子を買う人たちはどんな人がいるのか想像も付かないが、この小説を読む限り、みんな、フツウ…であり、どこか狂っている。みんな汚いけど、どこかに泉のように綺麗なココロをもっていて。出会いの重なり。。
最後の部分に、いつもの夏とかわらない。みたいなことが書いてあった。そこに妙に納得してしまった。結局は自分である限り、同じなのだ。
