爆笑の前半中盤、そして切ないけどあったかな後半。
その中でもこの「すとん、と落ちた」というのがあまりにも印象的でダイスキです。本当に著者はすとんと落ちたのでしょう。
わたしも人より多くの学生生活を送り、今も自営業で右往左往しているので、友人たちがきちんと社会に出ていってしまい、自分だけが遅れを取っているような、でもこの暮らしをやめられないような。。。そんな気持ちを共有しました。
野々村荘をあんなに愛してやまなかった人が野々村荘を出るまで、ノノコンを卒業するまでの成長物語といっていいでしょう。
ちなみに高野さん、ちゃんと「その人」と結婚したらしいです。今は立派なマンション暮らしらしいですよ。その話をたまたま聞いてしまったのですが、なおさらうれしくなってしまいました。是非多くの人に楽しんでもらいたい。ただ楽しいだけではなく、何度読んでもたくさんの気持ちを感じさせてくれる一冊です。

船戸与一氏を始め、多くの冒険作家を生み出した早稲田大学探検部。その探険部に所属し、自らも数冊の冒険記を出している著者が、89年から00年までの11年間、暮らした三畳（最後の３年は四畳半）の下宿「野々村荘」で巻き起こる日々のエピソードや奇人ともいうべき住人たちを記した青春記です。
幻覚を起すといわれる植物を食べ15時間も意識不明に陥ったり、風呂に行く金が無く、仲間と区民プールに通う内に、泳ぎに目覚め、「河童団」なるグループ名で区民水泳大会に出てみたり、好奇心は旺盛で時間もたっぷりあるけれど、金の無い若き日々のお馬鹿なエピソードが綴られ、大笑いさせられます。
しかし、野々村荘を舞台に繰り広げられた日々も、就職で仲間達が野々村荘を去っていき、著者は妙な「生き詰まり感」にかられてしまい、愛する女性とも別れる羽目になります。その原因が、野々村荘という安住の地にいることから来ることに気づいた著者は長年親しんだ野々村荘を出、人生の次のステージに向かう決意をします。
中盤まで思いっきり笑わせられ、後半、自分自身の経験と重ね合わせながら、考えさせられる青春記です。学生時代、下宿生活をされていたような方に特にお奨めの本です。

私は高校、大学と学生寮を経験したので男の寮生活や下宿の話が好きである。男のロマンは金ではない。金が無くても大いなる野望や希望もあるのだ。ただ日々ボーっと暮らしていたりして、いつになったら目覚めるのか・・・。筆者も長い長いモラトリアムを過ごし、人より遅く社会へ出て行く。私も既に社会人15年目。筆者と同い年だ。そして社会へ出たからこそモラトリアムを今、求めたくなっている。充電の期間が欲しいのだ。男は毎日働けば凄いというのではない。一生のうちに何をするかである。「ワセダ三畳青春記」には、その男のロマンが書かれている。それは70年代~80年代に活躍した伝説の漫画原作者、狩撫麻礼の作品に通じているところがある。筆者もきっと読んでいたのかもしれない。最後にモラトリアムを終える筆者のシチュエーションが素敵だ。
