本書は女性が女性を愛すというテーマです。このテーマだけだと興味本位となってしまいますが、実際に女性の同性愛というものはここまでプラトニック的で芸術的なものなのかと感心させられます。本書の主人公が女性を見る目はまるで芸術作品を見るがごとくです。性的描写も多くありますが、リアルである反面、そこにも芸術性を感じます。

文庫版の解説を書いている作家やこの作品をポルノグラフィーと読む人にこの作品のよさなんてまったくわからないだろうし、それも無理ないだろうと思う。それほど細かな気持ちを丁寧に表現した本だと思う。

安達千夏自身が、レイプによって産まれた子どもで、女性を愛していて、女性を愛することに罪悪感を持っていて、女性である自分自身のからだが気に入っているのにバットマンの腕がほしいと思い、ほしいと思うから男を「抱く」というカナのような人生を送っていないのなら、どうやってこのような立場の人間の心の内側をこんなにも詳しく知っているのだろうと思う。
安達千夏自身の体験でないのなら、この作家の想像力に敬意をささげる。
安達千夏自身の体験に身近な心の風景なのなら、表現しにくいことを詳しく表現してくれた業績に、感謝をささげる。

レイプによってうまれた子ども、親に見捨てられた子ども、男性からの性虐待や性暴力の被害にあった人たちでレズビアン、バイセクシャルの女性で、女性を愛したり大好きな女性にふれたいと思う気持ちに罪悪感を持っている仲間たちにぜひ読んでほしい。私はこの本を読んで、長年の罪悪感がとけはじめたように感じた。

同郷の作家ということは以前から知っていたが、作品を読んだのは今回初めて。舞台も山形。それだけでいいんだけど、どうも感情移入できなかったし、作品世界に入り込むことができなかった。所々には切れ味するどい描写があったが、私にはただそれだけ。けっして官能小説になっていないところは作者の力量だと思う。もっと大きな舞台での物語を期待する。
