タイトル通り、ブラックユーモアたっぷりの12編が収められた短編集。
ＳＦテイストあり、どたばたナンセンスあり、本業のミステリあり、また
環境問題や社会風俗を痛烈に皮肉った内容も見られ、作者の懐の広さを
示すような掌編が揃っている。
お勧めは次の４編。

「つぐない」
（訳もわからず笑っているうちに読み進むと、ラストで滂沱の涙を
　誘われる秀作。この一編を読むだけでもこの短編集を買う価値あり！
　ここに書かれている内容が科学的に事実であるなら驚異としか
　言いようがないし、またもし仮に作者の空想であっても、その発想の
　素晴らしさにただ驚嘆するのみ）

「誘拐天国」
（誘拐の発端と、身代金受け渡しの方法がユニーク。作者は長編も
　考えていたというが、もし長編になっていたとしたら、天藤真の
　「大誘拐」と並ぶ快作になること間違いナシのストーリーだ）

「殺意取扱説明書」
（タイトルから受ける殺伐としたイメージが読み進むうちに覆され、
　「そうだそうだ！」と首肯させられる。
　一種ほのぼのとした哀愁を感じさせるラストが切なくも心地よい）

「本格推理関連グッズ鑑定ショー」
（「名探偵の掟」所蔵の短編「密室宣言」の後日談であり続編。
　某ＴＶ番組のパロディ描写が笑えるし、どんでん返しが痛快）

そして巻末には、東野氏と京極夏彦氏との特別対談も収録されており、
とんでもない「秘密」が暴露されたりしていて、これもまた興趣深し。

一題目の誘拐天国を数ページ読んだだけで、胸が躍った。
すべての作品にほどよく毒がまわっており、読み終えるころには毒は私を衰えさせるどころか、輝きに満ちた力を与えてくれた。
知的でいて、下俗。絶妙である。
そんな作品たちの中に、唯一切なさを抱え込んでいた「つぐない」が紛れ込んでいたのもまたいい。
大変気持ちのよい時間をすごせた。

　とにかく面白い！
　「誘拐天国」の主人公はおじいちゃん。孫と遊びたいばっかりに誘拐をしちゃいます。
　とにかく怖いもの知らずで言動が笑えます。

　「マニュアル警察」はファーストフード店顔負けの徹底振り。お役所ロボットって感じで融通がきかないっぷりが笑えます。

　「ホームアローンじいさん」これまた主役はおじいちゃん。エロいおじやんです。ｗ
　ドリフ的なおとぼけっぷりに、機械音痴っぷりで笑わせてくれます。

　「誘拐電話網」不幸の手紙を想像する笑いです。

　以上4つが私のお勧めです。
