高野 秀行
1966年東京都生まれ。早稲田大学探検部当時執筆した『幻獣ムベンベを追え』でデビュー。『西南シルクロードは密林に消える』『巨流アマゾンを遡れ』など辺境探検をテーマにしたノンフィクションや、『異国トーキョー漂流記』『アジア新聞屋台村』など、早稲田時代の青春や日本での異文化体験を描いた作品を執筆。2006年『ワセダ三畳青春記』で第一回酒飲み書店員大賞受賞(本データはこの書籍が刊行された当時に掲載されていたものです)

高野さんの自伝ですが、これがまたアジアンテイストのニッチな世界で繰り広がる聞いたこともない珍奇な話を感興の赴くままに筆を走らせたものです。
日本にいながらその会社の扉を開けるとそこには多国籍のエイジアン異文化があり、次から次に押し寄せてくる突拍子もない出来事の数々がいずれも意表をついた変化球で展開していき、ずいぶん面白味を増しています。
舞台は、台湾、タイ、ミャンマー、インドネシア、マレーシアの新聞を製作している会社なのですが、そこで働いているアジアの多国籍な人びとが一筋縄ではなく、独特の個性があるユニーク面々ばかりなのです。
その人物像をリアルに描写するとともに壁新聞にも劣るような素人感覚で真面目に新聞制作をし販売しているというマンガのような世界を高野さんの青春と交錯させ、これらをうまく纏め上げリアルに描写して書いています。
まるで小説を読んでいるような感覚になるほどよくできた作品であり、本書をドラマ化すると非情に面白いテーマのものが出来上がるのではないかと思います。
それほど、レアで内容の濃いひとつの実話ドラマだと思います。気分転換や退屈しのぎにぜひおススメします。

私は大の高野ファンだが、この本は文章のテンポも悪く、これまでの冒険モノでも青春モノでもなく、なんとも中途半端な印象で、私が期待する笑いもペーソスもなかった。
頑張れ、高野。
もっと、ワクワクして馬鹿馬鹿しい話を書いてくれ！
