■橋本治が現代女性を描いた短編６作を収録。「ふらんだーすの犬」は、若く怠惰な母親たちから虐待を受けて小学生の少年が命を落とす。死ぬ直前看護士が抱きしめてくれたそのぬくもりを母親のぬくもりと勘違いして、少年は微笑を浮かべて天国に旅立つという実にやるせない作品だ。「浅茅が宿」は暴漢に理不尽に殺された夫とその妻の心情を描く。本書で橋本は第18回柴田錬三郎賞を受賞した。

評論・時評などは、ほぼ欠かさず読んできたにも

かかわらず、その著者が書く小説を全く無視して

きた自分を痛く反省。

どの短編もフィクションでありながら、

背筋が凍るほどのリアリティがあると感じます。

女を主人公とした作品ですが、

何故か男の私も、他人事でない切迫した

恐怖感を感じました。

小説家・橋本治が時評を書いているという方が

今後は自分のなかではしっくり来るような気がします。

最初の「ふらんだーすの犬」のインパクトは強烈です。
（とくに会話文は、活き活きとした身もすくむ下品さで、耳を塞ぎ、いや目を覆いたくなります。）で、この短編はおいといて、

二編目以降は、
どの短編の女性主人公にも、全くリアリティが感じられない。。。
私は女性ですが、困ったことに、どの主人公にも共感できないし、実際にこんな感じ方をする女性達にはお目にかかったことがないし、いるとも思えない、のです。
ミもフタもない言い方ですが、「こんなオンナいるかあ？」という感じ。

お話自体はよく出来ているので、最後まで読んでしまうのですが。

あるいは、作者は、意図して、「実際には居そうもない女性を想定して」、書いているのでしょうか？
それとも、そもそも男性が女性を描くのはムリなのでしょうか？

いずれにせよ、２編目以降は、なんだか違和感だけが残る短編集でした。
